SEC Big 12 2023 Challenge

Anybody know the Gators' record overall in this series?

 

I am still waiting for that Florida-Texas match-up. I believe that the Gators have played every other B12 team in these conference challenges. Anyways, with UF's poor showing last season (i.e, missing the NCAAs), we should be greatful that the Gators have been chosen again.


Here is a run down list of all of the opponents that Florida has faced in the last decade or so.
- Kansas (2x: 1-1)
- West Virginia (2x: 2-0)
- Oklahoma (1x: 1-0)
- Baylor (2x: 1-1)
- TCU (1x: 0-1)
- Oklahoma St (1x: 1-0)
- Kansas St (upcoming 2023 opponent)

In the SEC-B12 matchups, Florida still has not been matched up against Texas, Iowa St or Texas Tech.

Florida's W/L (6-3) record is the best of all of the SEC teams followed by Kentucky(5-3) & Tennessee (5-3). Florida is the only SEC team to have played in every SEC-B12 Challenge games. Teams like Georgia, Miss St and S.Carolina have played the least number of these challenge games - each of those teams have missed (5) SEC-B12 Challenge games!

 

You probably need to check the Oklahoma record.

 

During the last few seasons, Florida had played Oklahoma twice more and had lost both of those games(2022,2019).

However, those games were considered to be non-conference games and not as part of the SEC-Big12 Challenge. I only posted the record of what Florida had done against B12 teams in those challenge games.

Florida did defeat OU in the 2017 SEC-B12 Challenge behind KeVarius Hayes monster game (20 pts, 9 reb, 3 blk, 2 A) in Norman, Oklahoma.Florida vs. Oklahoma - Game Summary - January 28, 2017 - ESPN

In the non-conference recently, Florida had also played Oklahoma St and won that one (2016) in addition to last year's (2021)SEC-B12 Challenge game which UF had won against the Cowboys in former Coach White's last season.

In the 2018 RD32 NCAA Tournament game, one year after their 2017 Elite8 run, Florida had also played Texas Tech but lost to the Red Raiders in a close game (66-69). Auburn has had a much better secondl half. Tight game with a few minutes left. Anybody’s game.

SEC - 0

 

Texas Tech is 0-8 in conference, at LSU, and up 10. Guess that “first year coaches” thread didn’t age well.

 

LSU G Miller with 12 points but 3 fouls in first half. TTU with 41 points at the half. LSU not doing bad on offense but TTU is packing the offense stats.

 

Oklahoma put up 50 on Bama at the half??? Wowzers. Almost as shocking: Missouri up ten against a team they probably should be getting handled by.

 

Difference in the Bama game is 3 point shooting, basically.....same issue we have suffered in earlier games....

 

The Big 12 is stout. The SEC will have its hands full. I'm guessing 3-7 or 4-6.

 

It's aging just fine, I update it weekly.

 

Appears to be 3 upsets so far with Oklahoma over Bama, Missouri over Iowa State, and WV over Auburn. Hopefully our game follows this pattern.
