We are and will continue to be much better in the 23 season. 8ish wins. Very similar to the transition from 79 to 80 under Pell. We are on the right track, and Napier IS the man.
You and me both. I think reading the optimistic practice reports are what end up fooling me or causing me to have false expectations.
Should definitely have beaten Kentucky and Vandy last year and Tennessee, FSU and even LSU were within reach. We have to have better QB play and our OL is going to need to be solid, not great, but good. We have a tough schedule and even though I think 7 wins is a possibility and 10 wins, even 11,is also possible, (regular season). Our coaches are going to have to instill a sense of urgency on our team in EVERY game. If BN is the talented coach I think he is, I think he learned a lot from his first year as a HC in the SEC. That too is in our favor. For what it’s worth, I’m predicting 9 wins plus a bowl win this coming season.
We will most likely lose: Utah, Tennessee, UGA, LSU, FSU. We will probably lose at least one of: South Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Kentucky but I think 3-2 is more likely. Thus, 5-7 for the season. 7-5 is probably our ceiling. I would be happy with that.
That is probably correct but we don’t have to be that much better than you expect to beat some of those top tier teams you have up there. Georgia is probably not going to happen either way but the rest of them really aren’t that good.
I am not so optimistic but am very willong to be pleasantly surprised. My suspicion is that we will look better tham our W-Ls say.
That’s kinda what I’m expecting. Not a game changer qb or an elite defense. I just don’t see the talent there yet but we can look better as a unit on both sides of the ball. I expect to see improvement and talent in the pipeline preparing to be better in the future. McClellan looked to be one of those guys last year along with Etienne. If we have a handful of true freshmen looking like future stars, I’ll be optimistic about the years to come. We won’t win 8-10 games this year unless Mertz does much more than expected and these portal guys really fill our holes better than I expect. The highschool kids aren’t beating the top teams on our schedule.
I agree with this. Even though the record might be worse than 2022, the 2023 Gators could potentially be a better team. We're probably going to take a step back at OL and QB, but I think our defense will be improved.
Based on Miller's film at Ohio State, most had low expectations to begin with. Mertz, for all of his issues, started in the Big 10 and completed a few passes. From what I have seen of Miller, he is slow with his reads and looks out of place in D-1 ball. If Rashada had stayed, I think Miller would have transferred after Spring.
The once "Mighty Gators" unfortunately are no longer mighty and I therefore expect them to have a season similar to last year.
Dooley is a total hack who relies on trite formulas and concocted "pseudo controversies" to weave his braindead, click bait "articles." I honestly can't remember the last time he wrote something that I found to be truly informative, insightful or fresh. Of course, to be fair, I stopped reading his drivel on anything like a regular basis years ago, so I suppose it's possible that I missed something worthwhile somewhere along the way. But the vapid claptrap posted at the top of this thread sure as hell won't make me lose any sleep worrying about it.
It’s just a projection. One has been a 3 year starter, the other one hasn’t. But who knows …Jack could surprise a lot of us.
