There’s pro coaches that have won Super Bowls because they are great coaches. Being Prime Time brings a lot of hype and he was probably the best corner cover ever but as a coach, he hasn’t done much to make me believe he’s even average.
I think great coaches are like great military leaders. They get rid of the individuality and create teams. He will in my opinion attract a bunch of prima donnas like himself. I thought Randy Moss was a lost cause when he was with the Raiders but yet when he went to New England, he was a model citizen and probably had a career year.
Has Deion not created a team-over-individual culture in his brief coaching career? And I think every great coach has a bit of prima donna in them, knowing that you're great at what you do is what separates the greats from the rest.
Coaching isn't a one-style-fits all profession. Different coaches have different styles, so while you may see it as a bad thing that Deion isn't a stoic guy like Bill Belichick who looks like he's miserable all the time or a firecracker like Nick Saban who looks like he's about to have a stroke on the field whenever a player makes a mistake, I think him bringing his own unique style that mixes confidence with teaching is a breath of fresh air.
Some don't, but you asked for a leadership quality that he lacks and it didn't take more than a millisecond for that one to come to mind.
Have any of his former assistant coaches, players, staff members etc said he lacks humility or said anything negative about him? I would imagine if he's the arrogant smug a-hole that folks are making him out to be, that several people who worked for him would've said something by now. I really only hear this kind of stuff from random college football fans. Funny how that works.
Yeah I wouldn't expect an opposing coach who just got his ass handed to him by Deion to have many nice things to say about him. I was looking for something from a person who has actually worked on his staff, either when he was coaching high school ball in Texas or during his stint at Jackson State. Usually when a coach is difficult to work with or is an a-hole, you hear his former staff members spill the beans...
I’m not privy to his lockeroom but I have my doubts. Cormani to Colorado seems to support my position.
He doesn’t have much in his past to support him being any good. He took some talent from division one and beat up on a weak schedule. Now, when he starts winning the pac12 folks will take notice. Give him a few years out there and see what he’s got.
Well of course, the new narrative is Cormani the prima donna went to Colorado to join prima donna head coach Deion. If Cormani had picked UF, he wouldn't be seen as a prima donna LOL. Everything is about narratives.
I mean, I never claimed he was a great coach. I'm just not bothered by him or his "antics" that seem to make some upset. Most of the people who don't like him now didn't like him when he played in college and the NFL, and didn't like him when he was in the media. Naturally their opinion on his coaching will be indicative of that.
