Well of course you value music. It helps calm your victims, er...I mean your patients. Yeah...that's it!...It helps calm your patients.
I understand you first point, and don't disagree about Mazzccua. With the roster turnover we had this year, I just hoped that we would be very successful in the portal this year. Maybe more than any school in the conference, we really needed to hit a homerun with both NUMBERS (12-15) and QUALITY. My opinion is that we did decently. I'd give us a B- or C+, both of which are disappointing when we needed an A+. I don't think our portal-game is nearly as good as our HS-game at the moment. Hopefully that will improve over time. And the rankings are subjective, of course, as all of them are. There are too many variables to consider regarding future success. But one could argue ranking players that are already in college is less subjective than ranking HS kids.
i get what you’re saying. You’re NOT disappointed, just had higher expectations. We all know we dont know more than the coaches or how they eval portal kids and how they feel about them, but you would be lying to yourself if you (not YOU personally, just generally speaking) didn’t at least question a few of the kids in the portal that, from what WE were privy to, the staff showed ZERO interest in. Again there are a lot of factors that goes into it (NIL, fit, mutual interest, a kid may already know where he’s going, etc), but this portal class is solid when some hoped it would have been better
Well then please accept my apology Marine - I thought for sure you had posted earlier that you weren’t into music, or something to that effect. But when I went back through this thread looking for it I couldn’t find it. So I guess it was my imagination. As far as ‘hitting a nerve’, that’s something dentists should avoid at all costs, don’t you think?
At this point Skink I’d hoped you would have realized most of my posts are in jest. Hitting a nerve while administering local anesthetic, especially with an inferior alveolar block is a good indication you found the sweet spot. Now hitting a nerve while drilling….not bad if you like doing root canals $$$$$
Nobody who had significant needs really ran the table in the transfer portal to give them an A+, and it really shouldn't be expected as the talent will get spread more evenly as great college players are making more career decisions and not wanting to get relegated to a scout team player on a team that is stocking talent deep. Even LSU who I think did the best had to take our Lee at DT. At a place that has traditionally had really good DT players, he should be a 3rd stringer. I think that the portal is potentially less subjective, but how can they really rate anybody who has not played a snap of college ball other than by seeing how their body has developed, which I doubt the recruiting services have even looked at. Also, I don't see how one can rate someone jumping from FCS to FBS. None of the services know why the player left and what they were doing while they were injured or how they fit into the team they are joining. I don't think there is much of a chance of the rankings being objective.
I also have noted that you have been far more focused on recruiting and positives, than emphasizing the record and not so pretty stuff, and I am glad you are exercising patience with coach. Been a pretty rough start to the off season and I find it regrettable the staff has the stress of dealing with issues they apparently have no control over. Like they aren't dealing with enough as it is. Just hoping we finish strong in the transfer portal and pick up recruiting momentum.
That’s the thing I get annoyed with. A handful of folks have made comments that the transfer portal rankings are less subjective & more accurate than HS. Which is nonsense. I certainly have my concerns with HS rankings, but they go to camps, all Star games and have have 2-3 seasons of game tape where they were starting. Considering that less than 7% of the portal were starters and guys that went to college and disappeared for 3 years how the hell do they know their worth??? They can’t watch practices… “but hey, he was a pretty good 4 star in high school and looked ‘ok’ in college, in the 22 snaps he participated in. Uhhh … go ahead and put him at #56” …It’s STUPID to put that much value in these rankings when it is so flawed.
lmaooo. I said Dean on Twitter then I realized...Nick Washington wasn't even that bad. Granted, he was surrounded by some helluva talent but he was never a liability
2005 #19 Tony Joiner should replace Nick Washington on that list. That man got beat so many times while I was watching from the student section it hurt. Lol
Saw them in Orlando around the same time w/Rod Stewart and Faces! I agree my hearing has never been the same. My doctors say my hearing sucks, duh!
Agree with you and would say B- I like the guys we got. interesting that some said we’d be right up there at the top with portal transfers.
