1 out of the top 25. Wow...we needed to do MUCH better than that, given how many we had transfer OUT.
It's all relative. How significant are the linemen we pulled for us given our situation? Don't care what people think about ranking a number. I do wish we got some more production at linebacker but I don't know their back stories or potential so I'll reserve judgment and trust the staff knows what they need. Everyone is saying fsu is Top dog in the portal but how many from that list went to fsu? People get so caught up in number rankings.
True, it's fun to follow recruiting, the divas, the insanity - and watch out Bobby and Candy will come a running about all the statistical association's related to top 5 classes meaning a playoff berth. Me, at the end of the day, I am much more satisfied with kicking ass on the field than winning all the recruiting and transfer portal ratings.
A few things come into play here. Sampling rates of audio file is one. For instance, Amazon Music has HiRes audio, that is CD quality or better. HD audio would be what is considered "lossless" and would be CD Quality. UltraHD Audio is better than CD quality. Another component is where the DAC is. Digital-to-Analog conversion varies. Digital music (CDs, MP3s, AAC, WAV, FLAK, etc) coming out of the speakers have been converted from digital to analog to be able to be played out of the speakers. Where that processing takes place matters. Not all DACs are equal. You can buy a dedicated DAC, like a Schiit Modi 3 (lol at the manufacturer name), and it will take care of the conversion. Anything that plays a digital file that outputs to speakers has a DAC. A cell phone has a DAC. A computer has a DAC. A TV has a DAC. An AV receiver has a DAC. Etc etc An easy way to think about it is if you have a TV with an AV receiver connected. If you use an analog output from the TV and into the receiver, the TV's DAC has already done the conversion from digital to analog. If you use an optical cable to connect the TV to the AV receiver, the data sent to the AV receiver is still in digital form via the optical cable and then the DAC in the receiver is doing the conversion. Even though it's the same file, it could sound different depending on where the conversion takes place. Well shit, now I'm doing it... How's about that Kelby Collins, eh? I think he is going to be a good one.
They still alive? I bought that Deep Purple Vinyl Album way back in the day (Machine Head) wore it out. They are like me, putting on a little age. Now when I listen I don't slam tequila, I'm slammin Ensure..............
It was an SEC transfer list. A better comparison is LSU, who was in a similar situation to us. They lost nearly as many as we did to the portal. Not only did they do as well (or better) than us with their HS class this year, but they cleaned up in the portal. I'm glad we got kids at positions of need. But it seems, to me, that we didn't get many (any?) of the very well regarded players at those positions.
None of our transfer outs would make that list, so I am not getting your point. Is your point really supposed to be that we need to do better than the competition around us, because that would make more sense?
My point was that, given how many transfers OUT we had this year, we needed to be uber-successful in the portal to gain ground on our competition. I'm happy with the positions we've recruited from the portal, but obtaining only 1 out of the top 25 transfers into the conference is disappointing. Kind of ironic that the "one" is Mertz, BTW.
No offense Bobby, I guess I can see why You thought I was throwing shade, didn't mean it, my point was really I enjoy the actual game more than all the things that make it possible. Apologies my man. I hold you and Candy in the highest regard.
Lol i was like dannnng Lol but nah, ive gotten over the top 5 class stuff because man, we gotta start getting the recruits we want first that end up at Michigan State, USCe, and any other 2nd and 3rd tier teams before I start thinking top lol. Now with the playoffs expanding, shoot just get me top 10 at worst classes and get us to the expanded CFP almost yearly and we can go from there. 2024 is when we make that big upswing (at least that’s my hope)
I don't see how losing a guy like Collier makes us need to be very successful in filling his spot because he never contributed and never would have. Getting a walk on would have replaced him. That is my point. Not meaning to belittle you. I am just saying we need to fill holes (and have done most of that already) and 3/4 of the ones that left didn't leave holes. They never contributed and were not going to. Btw I am surprised about quite a few of the ones on that list. Some of them are not going to make a significant impact on the teams they go to. Mertz will have to or we will be in big trouble, as would be the case with anyone we brought in because of the debacles left by AR leaving earlier than he probably should have, the unmentionable doing his thing, and Rashada getting greedy and having to settle for less elsewhere. On wanting more on that list. That list is ****. Mazzccua is as good as any of those linemen AU got. Goodwin is a huge pickup that should be on that list. Instead somehow a db that couldn't make it at FSU is a prized pick up in the SEC.
