oh well, that's stupid too. he signed. glad its over though. we'll probably never hear his name again. Much like Chris Steele and Jalen Jones.

If that’s true, shouldn’t we be able to get that money back since he didn’t enroll? Or at least not be obligated to pay it if it hasn’t already been paid?

Recruiting the left coast is a waste of resources, time, and money. Far too high a bullshit/benefit ratio

Boosters will get a better idea of what it cost to sign a premier qb. It’ll cost a bit more for six win teams than teams that almost guarantee a ring. 6 mil for Miami? Maybe that’s not true but it seems legit to me considering nfl qbs make 50 mil and unproven guys like AR get guaranteed millions. A mil and a half a year? Seems cheap to me. The weird part is the fans have to foot the bill. A team that has fans responsible for generating them over 100 mil a year doesn’t pay? Unbelievable, the fans are being screwed.

We can find the same problems in our own state, why fly way over there to do it.

The need to get laws passed to put the players under contracts directly with schools. Quit pretending it not pay to play and step up to the plate. Schools just like keeping the money. How long are the boosters and fans willing to pick up the payrolls. For every Ruiz, I’d bet there’s more that fold it up and walk away in the future.

I’m thinking the going rate was $1 million per year until TN upped the going rate with their QB signing this year

Pretty much... lock the Southeast down before you go out West.

The best in the business can recruit nationally though.

Sounds about right to me. Tennessee would have to pay me more than Bama, Georgia , Clemso, Ohio State and even mote to got to Miami.

Chase didn't sign with us. Chase went to where he was going to be best used

Thinking about how this whole cluster f*ck got me thinking, it would be interesting to see if there could be a study done to see if there is a higher percentage of failure in recruits who have a high degree of drama (e.g. multiple "commitments/de-commitments," over the top signing day ceremonies, etc). I have to think there is

I said the exact same thing. It seems like the more drama, the worse they do.
But I've never gone back and studied it.
I will def keep my eye on Cormani and Rashada wherever they end up.

I know teams that have a lot of drama usually don’t do well

    Revisionist history (mine):

Once we were "outbid" by Miami, we should have tipped our hat, wished him well (probably because he is going to need all the help he can get) and then thank GOD he taught us a lesson that the new reality involves potentially good players playing in a team sport who are more concerned about themselves than the success of the team.

This went too far and now we look worse than he does...right now.

I don’t think we look worse than he does and every day that goes by I feel more that way. It won’t be long before this is old news, especially as more drama unfolds elsewhere
