I'm bored so I decided, what the heck lol BTW, i'm not trying to prove a point or anything, just passing the time QB: Jeff Driskel - 2011 (17th overall) RB: Kelvin Taylor - 2013 (21st overall) WR: Tyrie Cleveland - 2016 (34th overall) WR: Xzavier Henderson - 2019 (68th overall) WR: Jacob Copeland - 2018 (69th overall) TE: AC Leonard - 2011 (52nd overall) OT: DJ Humphries - 2012 (3rd overall) OG: Jessamen Dunker - 2012 (59th overall) C: Cam Dillard - 2013 (465th overall) OG: Rod Kearney - 2023 (114th overall) OT: Martez Ivey - 2015 (2nd overall) DE: CeCe Jefferson - 2015 (7th overall) DT: Gervon Dexter - 2020 (12th overall) DT: Gerald Willis - 2014 (35th overall) DE: Jon Bullard - 2012 (12th overall) LB: Alex Anzalone - 2013 (51st overall) LB: Daniel McMillian - 2013 (59th overall) LB: Derek Wingo - 2020 (64th overall) CB: Vernon Hargreaves - 2013 (3rd overall) CB: Teez Tabor - 2014 (15th overall) S: Chauncey Gardner-Johnson - 2016 (42th overall) S: Kamari Wilson - 2022 (44th overall)
That's not very good. Several misses in that lineup. I wonder what kind of a team the second highest rated player at each position would be.
Everyone on the offensive side of the ball did NOT live up to their recruiting ranking if you take a look at it except maybe Cam Dillard. Crazy
Would imagine that's true of many if not most teams My takeaway is top 100 pretty much across the board, lots of top 50
Driskell???? Shows one how accurate the ratings are considering he wasnt the best QB since 2010.. Remember this kid named Trask that rode the pine for a year.
It's funny how different a take I had than you, from the perspective that those that are winning our conference every year have this kind of talent every year, not every 12 years. And seriously, I really think Cam is one that overachieved and is not someone I would have looked at to recruit to a top SEC team. I am a big defender of our recruiting generally because we do tend to get those that exceed their ranking; however, for the apex of our recruiting to have a C that probably shouldn't have been recruited to a top SEC team, 5 guys who did nothing or almost nothing in a O&B jersey (Leonard, Dunker, Willis, Anzalone, and McMillian), guys that have way underachieved their rankings (Driskel, Taylor, Cleveland, Henderson, Copeland, Ivey and Humphries), and guys I am unsure if they will make good on their ranking (Wingo and Wilson). I can't even say that Jefferson, Tabor and Gardner-Johnson did what I expected from their rankings. I'm not sure what should said about Dexter as I think everyone expected more and maybe that was unrealistic despite his raw ability. That leaves Bullard and Hargreaves who I think were what we expected them to be. Most all of these guys bled O&B, so I am grateful for what they did and the sacrifices they made. I just think the coaches needed to be more accountable for the recruiting they did over that period. It just wasn't good enough for championships. Maybe it was all about money, and they had no chance. I can't say.
Lots of guys who didn't exactly live up to the rankings on this list. Shows how inexact the whole recruiting thing really is.
2019 Florida Gators Football Commits Smoke and mirrors. If it's hit or miss even with highly rated recruits then you absolutely cannot have several non qualifiers, early transfers, dismissals etc. Wilson, Hammond, Henderson, Steele, Jones etc. 5 off the rip that never saw a season here. That's not to mention taking a risk on Wright who had a torn ACL in high school. I laugh at the couple of posters who are calling Napier and mullens recruiting a wash for now. We have no idea how many of our high rated guys will pan out but at a minimum they all signed except the for the circus show. I believe I heard Dijon still has to sign as well but I don't believe his situation is anything as absurd as say Henderson or black who we knew weren't going to qualify. Mullen clearly took fliers on known non qualifiers and other risky takes just to fill out classes. He scored big in the portal early on and then next to nothing after. It's like he even gave up on the portal after his first year.
I thought there was a year there where Muschamp landed the top 2 tight ends in one class. But I guess they weren't as highly ranked as AC Leonard. All three of them amounted to nothing at UF, so I guess it doesn't matter.
It was the following year he nabbed two TE's Kent Taylor, Land O' Lakes, Tight End Colin Thompson, Archbishop Wood, Tight End Ironically, Thompson went to the same HS as Kyle Pitts. Just stumbled upon that Kyle Pitts, Archbishop Wood, Tight End
I think you might be a little harsh on some of your assessments. Tabor was elite. Anzalone (when healthy) was a stud. Driskell & CGJ could have been elite with proper coaching. We know the story behind Driskell… 3 OCs and Muschamp. He transfers to LA Tech and has a great year. 9 years later he is still in the league. Chauncey was all over the place on our roster. And crazy as it is, it was Grantham that left him alone a Safety and he had a terrific year. If there was one position group that really stands out it’s the OL. A LOT of misses over the years.
This are them. I think Thompson had some kind of foot injury and left the program and Taylor had a nice TD in our blowout bowl loss to Louisville but didn't do anything the following year and left the program as well.
