Automatic boost when you get a Jordyn Merritt back in the lineup.
Uh, injuries are quite common in basketball.

No, I don't know that. Please provide the data.

I played football 4 years in high school, never got anything worse than bruises or scratches. In basketball, I had a split scalp, my tooth going through my lip, a broken thumb, another tooth nearly knocked out, a high-ankle sprain that took 6 months to recover from, a hyper-extended wrist, more minor sprains than I can count, and debilitating back spasms. So I say again, injuries are common in basketball.

Our injuries are not really uncommon at all. Look at UConn, Texas A&M, etc.... a lot of schools are down multiple players. Technically we are only down 1 right now. Injuries are not a UF problem.

    Saw this in the Sentinel
The Florida women’s basketball team used a strong defensive effort to post a 73-55 victory over Vanderbilt on Sunday.
A quartet of Gators (13-7, 2-5 SEC) finished in double-figures scoring, led by Nina Rickards with 15 points. Alberte Rimdal (14), Ra Shaya Kyle (13) and Leilani Correa (10) also contributed a double-digit effort.
Vanderbilt (9-12, 0-7 SEC) was led by Ciaja Harbison with 18 points, 5 steals and 4 rebounds.
The Gators asserted their will in the paint, finishing with a 48-24 advantage in points in the paint en route to a 30-of-65 (46.2%) shooting effort from the floor while connecting on just 2-of-19 (10.5%) from behind the arc.
Florida had 16 assists, led by five from KK Deans.
The Gators’ next game is Jan. 30 at Auburn.
    UCF loses at USF
The UCF women’s basketball was unable to overcome a slow start as the Knights dropped an 83-51 decision at South Florida on Sunday afternoon.

Good to see the lady Gators getting back on track.
Anybody care to post about the success of the gals this year?

Speaking for myself I think its a decent start, obviously work to do in conference but - isn't the SEC the toughest lady bball conference in the land?

You were playing way too much defense . Should have eased up . All about scoring . From way outside the mean guys in the paint

LOL - Reminds me - When I played H.S. ball we ran the "Wheel" offense and accordingly had to set many screens.

I used to get beat up pretty good at practice, I did not mind the screens but they often would cause havoc on my knees. A knee cap on a sweet spot of your own knee hurts. Especially when you are 5'-8" and the guy your screening is 6'-5" and outweighs you by 100 lbs.

The wheel was the go to offense . That and the Kentucky Shuffle . Knees would get banged a lot , especially in practice. I cringed when coach started cussing and yelling and said run it again ! And again!!…

Yes, the SEC is the toughest WBB Conference.
We have had some challenges. Last year we had a star, Kiara Smith, who was capable of taking over. She graduated but we had another very good player, Zippy Broughton who we hoped would take over but she was injured before the season started. Just as the SEC schedule was getting started arguably our next two best players went down and have just came back and are working into form so it has been tough. Hard working team and there is talent so give them your support if you can!

I need to remind myself how close we are the being on the edge of the top third of the conference.

The Georgia game and that officiating debacle. Win that one, and we're tied with Missouri for 8th, and entering two more games against bottom-half teams. And we're doing that while getting our two best players worked back into the rotation.

Then it's Ole Miss and MSU and we might be clicking a bit better for those. Then another shot at Georgia. Maybe 4-1 on this stretch?
