I’m not surprised we are playing good. Vanderbilt is the bottom of the bottom in the SEC, playing with 8 players. This game isn’t doing anything to me.
We are definitely playing better... although Vanderbilt is pretty bad. I'll take the improved effort.
They're SEC and that's unfair to our ladies who are playing so well . . . to diminish their achievement like that. They could be playing like #23 Arkansas which required a buzzer beater against this same team, right?
Vandy has played pretty well lately, should have beaten Arky on the road..so I will take this as a good sign
Sorry..was changing into my gym clothes for training in a few..so I missed the 3rd quarter 54-37 And I will take any SEC win our ladies can get
Not taking away the win at all. Love this for our Lady Gators, just saying we need to get better wins for me to feel like this team has improved with the transfers and Kelly Rae as HC. For years we have always automatically counted Vanderbilt as an automatic SEC win. I would like to win some of those games we never could pull away with
Fair enough. Once our injured players . . . which significantly affected the lineups and play . . . but once they get back and get up to game speed maybe we'll see the team perform like they could have without injuries.
KK looks a bit injured but glad to see Correa and Merritt healthy. Once Deans is back fully healthy I see us making a run in the SEC tournament
Another positive for me: Vanderbilt is playing extremely physical and it's good to see our ladies respond this well against a physical team.
They are entering a critical stretch that would be the opportune time to get hot. I am really hoping that with Jordyn getting back into the rotation that means we will see far less of the 2 posts at a time look. Hopefully we stay healthy and can start pressing the other team more as well.
Coach Finley said postgame (paraphrasing): Felt like the team that I know. It was really fun to coach them today. We challenged them with their communication to make sure they were listening. They put together a really solid 40-minutes. When they made a mistake we didn't compound them. Vanderbilt was pushing the ball in the second half and trying to push the pace and we did a good job of coming back to meet the ball. A really nice game though. She thought Lelani looked more and more like herself. She's pushing through and doing a good job. KK is battling how her body feels and proud of her as well. Nina did what seniors do. It's nice to have our whole team. This bye week will be really good for us. Some who had gotten lots of minutes didn't get as many but our bench energy was great. It's a really selfless group and it's really fun to coach them. It's a blessing to have Jordan back and she has worked really hard to come back in SEC play and that's something very difficult to do. That's a testament to who she is and what a competitor she is. They'll take time and get healthy. Then work on "us." Work on advantage situations. We can get out really fast in transition but are hesitant and I don't know where that came from. This group will stick together and we have a really bright future ahead of us.
