Did I say Russia was a shining star on the hill? What most nations do not have is a trained armed hate group directly involved in a war. New evidence reveals: CIA trained, armed Ukrainian Nazi paramilitary now leading the fight against Russia A 2016 report issued by the Office of the UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights details accusations against the Azov movement’s use of torture and other war crimes in the ensuing conflict after Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. The battalion’s sources of funding have always been unclear but the report cited the battalion’s online claims of receiving training from foreign military forces including those of Canada, Germany, the US, and the U.K.
The US is arming people who are ‘freedom fighters’ in Ukraine, but who would be considered Nazis in Charlottesville, VA.
Once again, this provides no plausible excuse for RUSSIA to invade a sovereign nation. Russia has every right to criticize what it deems to be unsavory, but it’s not a plausible reason to invade. Moreover, according to the map, the Azov “battalion” is far from the Ukrainian North, where Russia began its invasion with tanks and missiles, and far from the Ukrainian West, where Russia rains its missiles. And finally, the UN has found a legion of Russian atrocities and war crimes committed against the Azov battalion and the civilians there, and found no such findings against the Azov battalion in this war.
There is nothing sovereign about Ukraine. It’s nothing more than a proxy, a battering ram which is itself getting battered senseless in a fantastically stupid and tragic attempt to maintain the “international rules based order.”
Japanese leaders still regularly visit the war shrine that has over 1000 convicted war criminals listed in it, including many who killed Americans. Japan is still a steadfast ally in lost every other way. Country’s histories are complicated. The other example is just silly, one solider doesn’t represent anything, other than himself. We have neo nazis in our armed forces too, as does probably every country on earth. Disaffected youth are the same the world over. But sure, that justifies trying to bomb your neighbor into oblivion.
A celebration, a book banned, and a picture of a single soldier in a tweet? That is enough to convince you that this country is hopeless (or pure evil), and needs to be enslaved by the nearest superpower (who also happens to be highly corrupt AND homicidal bordering on barbaric)? Based on your examples, the U.S. is at least as corrupt as Ukraine, if not more so. It would not take much to dig up articles of Nazis in the U.S. military, books being banned, and less-than-saintly people being celebrated in the U.S. Do we deserve to be enslaved by the nearest superpower? You tell me. We are only fortunate that we are large and powerful enough to defend ourselves. Whether we deserve to be enslaved or not should not depend on the size of our military. What right do you have to declare Ukraine unworthy of freedom and dignity? Who gave you that right? Who made who? Who made you?
Even if we want to entertain this perspective on western corruption (if we can ignore that this take comes off like Vlad talking points), it is not in our interest to see a victorious and aggressive Russia. Whatever Ukraine’s issues, they are a sovereign nation and Russia is the perpetrator in this affair. This entire war is essentially because Russia lost their illegally obtained soft control over a puppet state. So they want to take it by force. While the Cold War is over, there are a few “sovereign” former USSR satellite nations where Russia has managed to corrupt their politics over the years. If there were a popular uprising in Belarus, for example, there should be little question we should support that in the exact way we view Ukraine. That’s what being the leader of the free world means. The former USSR states that broke away did well and have tended to have better rule of law than those under the thumb of the Russian gangster state. Basically if we want to call western economics “corruption”, it’s greasing palms corruption vs. having your enemies thrown off balconies corruption. One of these is a bit worse for rule of law and business confidence which is key to trade and foreign investment. Care to guess which model that is?
I’m sure everyone on this thread was spitting nails when the US invaded sovereign countries in 2002 and 2003.
sources matter Overall, we rate Israel365 News as right-biased and a conspiracy/pseudoscience website based on promoting false or misleading claims related to science and the bible.
check the source on some of these wild claims. 2nd sentence in article….. “Sputnik News, a Russian state-owned news agency that is now inaccessible in the US, reported last week that Putin’s claims of ties between the US government and the Ukrainian neo-Nazi Azov Battalion were true.” From fact check… “Overall, we rate Israel365 News as right-biased and a conspiracy/pseudoscience website based on promoting false or misleading claims related to science and the bible.” https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/israel365-news/
Yes the country is hopeless and it's not just because of a banned book and a single soldier. As far as corruption in the US that is being proven out everyday at this point. I certainly agree we are large and powerful enough to defend ourselves and we are also large and powerful enough to make the world kneel to suit our needs. Where did I say Ukraine wasn't worthy of freedom and dignity? What I am saying is Ukraine does not have the right to drag the US into this war much less depend on our military and American taxes to pay for it.
“Where did I say Ukraine wasn't worthy of freedom and dignity?” You literally opened this very post with that. Unless calling them “hopeless” is supposed to mean something else.
Did you read the report referenced in the article? That report is not a Russian or Israeli production.
So the Russians are at our back door? I don't think so. If and when that happens I'll gladly take up arms to repel them.
