Perhaps the kind that requires a special permit I presume.

I don't disagree in the least with anything you said. It just is what it is. I would reiterate though that UF has upped its commitment in several areas as you noted and has done so within the letter of the law and pre-existing institutional priorities. But there may be a couple of positive developments worth considering. First, there is a move afoot in the legislature to permit schools to have greater input/control in "facilitating" the arrangements between recruits and the third parties that provide the actual NIL funding. And secondly, UF has apparently appointed someone to oversee the NIL process from the institutional side of things - and hopefully thereby avoid any more situations like the one we just endured. Time alone will tell how successfully UF acclimates itself to this brave new world of CFB. But we do at least seem to be making an effort at long last after two decades of trying to remain "above the fray."

Actually, I am looking forward to see what Mertz can do with a different offense and coaching.

Hartman has been very durable and one of the better quarterbacks in America. That’s smart.
Injuries occur. Doesn’t mean I’d pass up a great prospect like Leary. Uk did pretty well with Levis.

Really good recruits but small class and no qb makes it a little concerning. Miller leaves and Brown decides to just play baseball and a thin room just became scary.

Hartman was out for a congenital issue that has nothing to do with injury. It can recur and is associated with heavy use of overhead motion, which is all a QB does. UK is taking a risk (maybe it is low) that Leary's shoulder is good. This has nothing to do with track record. These are specific idiosyncracies to those QB that made Mertz a safer choice for a big need for one year.

Like I said, I’ll root for Mertz but he is not a runner either and not nearly as accomplished as Leary. NFL scouts really like Leary a lot.

If Leary were not healthy ( small chance) put Miller in. Hartman’s made over 50 starts.

Is there any shot at maybe adding one of Georgia's QB's should they transfer between Stockton, Beck, and Vandagriff?

Leary makes Mertz look like Usain Bolt. Ton of respect for Leary and his skill set, but it is a horrible match for the UF system that looks for a QB that can move around a little
Fascinates me that you have carried on incessantly about our 3rd string (at best) QB dipping his toe into baseball.....while you completely downplay the fact that Leary tore his pectoral muscle off the bone on his throwing arm, as if he stubbed his toe. Leary is a big risk/reward for UK.

We need a good QB badly. But all the good QB are going elsewhere. Why? Is Napier not a great recruiter as we think. LSU just signed a Pac 12 1st team linebacker. We need a linebacker too. Why didn't we get him. Probably LSU has a chance to be in the playoffs. We don't.

Thanks. I see this as evidence of leadership. He's worth the wait and we'll be happy he's here when he arrives, I think.

no need to rush him on campus. Idk his age but he probably is still only 16-17 years old and to stick him on campus a year ahead of schedule and proclaim him the savior is suicide to his career.
