No, it's not about an aversion to non-rosy opinions or some pseudo intellectual "math problem BS". It's the incessant drumbeat of knee-jerk negativity couched in terms of absolute certitude by a hand full of uber-entitled naysayers seeking to portray themselves as wisemen and oracles that gets really old after a while. Do any of you self-appointed, misery-wallowing prophets of doom really believe that you're the only ones around here with a sense that things aren't all that great right now? Seriously? Hate on Billy all you want, I really don't give a hoot what the chorus of Cassandras thinks one way or the other. But for cryin' out loud, have the humility to call a concern a concern or an opinion an opinion instead of talking like you have some special God-given insight into the workings of matters we all see from afar. And just FTR, I've got a hell of a lot more confidence in BN's abilities as a recruiting expert and a judge of talent than I do of anyone on any fan board - including myself.
And if you create a post that has the F word instead of hoot, it would be warranted as best post ever
AND ……. before we had 1 option but he decided to go with a stacked QB room at Ole Miss. What is your alternative?
I have the crazy belief (hope) that the way the OL looks to be coming together, that an average QB will have the opportunity to better than he is.
Or we can be objective This is sports. They keep score They keep rankings on recruiting. We know where we stand. The reality is we had a bad 2022, have no highly thought of QB in 2023, and no non freshman acclaimed QB in 2024. Of course many of us would be worried. How can you possibly not be worried? I have hope, I’ll pray, but we are clearly running uphill right now. Hopefully Mertz transforms into something he hasn’t been and Lagway is TLaw. I hope that. But acting like that is a guarantee is a bit crazy
The recruiting class is good. Has very good players in it. I’ll say it again, it’s small in numbers and doesn’t have a QB. Those aren’t opinions. All three things are facts and one is positive. Bump classes are very important classes historically. If they are going to be low in numbers there had to be a great reason. Whether we like it or not this class needed a qb. Lagway looks like a definite difference maker in every aspect but there’s no guarantee he comes here.
And….knee jerk reaction is one week, one game, we’ve had two down seasons by our standard. This hasn’t been 2-3 weeks. Many things we were told have not happened yet. We hope they will but some signs point to not happening. When a Walker Howard picks a qb room with a better starter than we have and a much more crowded room ( sanders coming wasn’t a surprise) a natural question would be why? Why pick over a staff he’s known for 4-5 years and had a relationship with? It’s definitely ok to wonder and ask questions especially on a forum. As far as recruiting goes every time we’ve picked up a transfer or recruit I always….always have positive comments. I think the comments are always “great job Billy and Army” or this is a huge pick up and then something more specific. As I’ve mentioned before I hope Mertz has a great year. Because I feel there were other QBs out there doesn’t mean I won’t support Mertz.
Some of you are just missing the point. Everyone recognizes UF isn’t in a great place right now and hasn’t been for awhile. Not many argue against that. However a handful of you seem to constantly remind everyone of that. From starting threads to jumping in every thread with the same comments over and over. The look at what other schools are doing, why aren’t we, the oh man why did we not get that guy. It’s predictable and it’s constant. It’s not really a discussion when it’s repetitive, it’s just straight bitching, all of which does absolute nothing to change anything. EVERYONE understands UF is behind. EVERYONE gets it. Some of us just recognize complaining about it does nothing to change it right now. Some of us are tired of the same handful of posters that just constantly complain about it. Please stop with the it’s a forum and it’s just discussion. None of you are discussing anything. You’re just repeating the same thing. This coming from someone that got blasted for complaining about Mullen constantly after 2020…and maybe a little before that.
Well UGA won two NCs with a lowly Stetson Bennett. Same QB we made fun of them for starting against us a few years back over their 5* guys. Who knows what 2023 holds for us. I agree my optimism is running low, however I also realize I am not being paid 8 million a year or whatever BN's pay is now, to decide these things.
Yup. Nailed it. I'm generally a pessimist but lately these forums have helped me gain some positive perspective lol.
Again, that is not the opinion of this staff and how he will fit in their system. We will certainly see how it shakes out.
Yes, he did, the kid is competent, also surrounded by the highest rated HS talent in the country or at worst, 2nd to Alabama. Jack Miller could probably do pretty well behind a 5 star offensive line himself.
