It's amazing to me really. Some fans like you get it. But man I really underestimated the Disney Gators. Like it's an actual thing

You should read up on that story. People were fired. Changes were made. Even Harbaugh took a pay cut and restructured contract. And they turned it around becoming the powerhouse they once were (my issue isn't BN though - this is a systemic issue)

NIL is on the fans. The UF admin didn’t set up the collectives handling these deals. The fans did. I think it’s fair to say that we did not do our part in sending the administration a very good representative to work with, at least in the case of the collective setup to attract penny donors. The folks running that one seem to be just as big of clowns as the ones they attract with their $2 donations.

We didn’t gather and select a good representative, nor did we really look into who would be running these collectives and see if they were really working in UF’s best interests, or their own. We just accepted the first group of assholes to setup a website, and then blame the administration at UF for all the problems they’ve caused and continue to cause.

So, maybe you should storm your front yard and fire yourself, because you are as much to blame in this whole NIL deal as anyone working for UF or the UAA.

That's not entirely true. SS and the UAA publicly endorsed the NIL opportunity company. Now they are distancing themselves from it. That's terrible leadership.

let's also not ignore the fact his overall record at UF, the women's basketball scandal, his other poor handlings, etc. This is the guy you defend and want as your AD? I wish my boss had your expectations

It actually is entirely true, SS and the UAA accepted the representatives that we, the fanbase, sent to them. I suppose they could have rejected our choice and asked us to start over, but it’s still who we sent to them. At this point, I hope they revoke access and ask us to bring something else to the table. Going forward, they have some decisions to make, but I hardly fault them for merely accepting who we sent in to represent us. If they had simply rejected our rep, the same fans constantly whining about everything would have whined about that and said we know what we’re doing and you don’t control NIL deals.

I didn’t say I wanted anyone specific as AD, or that I would mind if SS was replaced. I’m not even defending him, just showing you your share of the blame. All these crazies out here wanting Billy and SS’s heads on a stake because of an NIL deal gone awry refuse to acknowledge their part in the NIL process.

I’m my own boss. ;). I control what I can control.

That's actually a really good response and I agree with a lot of that.

The Rashada deal and the public embarrassment that followed was just the icing on the cake for a lot of alresdy frustrated fans.

As for me, I've always supported this program with a lot of time and money. My form of protesting will be tightening the wallet until real change is made

We have 2 first year coaches in FB & BB. So it seems like changes were already made. Now, whether or not those changes work remains to be seen.

And even though we are about to enter year/season 3 of NIL, it never ceases to amaze how many people who follow college sports so closely still don’t understand how NIL works.

It is an embarrassment. It is frustrating. I wish we had done a better job setting up our collective(s), but we didn’t. I don’t fault the administration or the coaching staff for that. I find the blame to be much more on our side than theirs. That’s all I’m saying.

Not sure I understand the make up of the collective. Is it an official organization? Whether affiliated with UF or not? What if I won the Powerball and all of a sudden had 500 million at my disposal, could I start the Archigator Student Athlete Payment (ASAP) program and start paying athletes that sign with UF?

True but his taking a pay cut was only a couple seasons ago along with big changes on his staff. He still had a good 4 or 5 years to handle it the way he wanted. Probably by the 6th or 7th year is when he started seeing the pitchforks and made some changes. That is some self awareness that Mullen did not have.

You're equating what happened with women's soccer and, worse, women's basketball, to missing-out on a single recruit?

The fast food our football players were given to eat for years and their $Thousands in parking tickets and the spiraling down of recruiting, and more, are no worse than just failing to suddenly sign a single 17-year old?

Finally, this signing failure is the athletic director's fault?

Not sure why so many want to bring out the pitchforks on the heels of the Rashada travesty. It seems we dodged a bullet with this outcome. I think having an entitled mercenary like that would be toxic in the locker room.
