I think for this one, ya coulda waited until the second half. I know A&M is well-coached and plays good defense, but this was unusual. 12 friggin' points at the half? I remember the NC game against a good defensive UCLA team. We had something like 12 pts after 10min in the game. It was ugly, but we obviously got it going after a while with some key shots from Green and Brewer. Anyway, I see now that we lost 54-52. Was behind on DVR. Looks like we played a better second half and fought through the A&M brick wall, but came up short. Oh well. Good effort?
For those interested, Saturday's game at MSU starts at 8:30 pm. I think I'll wait until 9:30 to tune in.
The slow starts continue to be frustrating. The first 10 minutes is like watching 5 Kramers stumbling around.
That first half did us in and we still had a chance. Coach Golden has to figure out how to get us out of the gate better to start the game. We struggle with that each game it seems. This was too big of a hole to dig out of.
So hopefully the team has learned to move on offense and attack the rim instead of settling for 25+ 3s.
We have a simple formula: make baskets and win games. Don't then you don't win against SEC level competition. It is what it is. Lofton is not helping us.
Second half was a different team almost. Different approach. Much different results. I was posting with someone about the physical TAMU defense and I think it really threw the kids off in the first half but should have been addressed at the under-16 or at least under-12 TV timeout, IMO.
I’d say heartbreaking but we score 12 in the first half so I say deserved to lose. First half issues a common theme. Just can’t expect to get away with it every game.
Fortunate to even have a shot at winning after scoring 12 in the first half. I don’t think I’ve seen a team only score 12 points in a half.
Nice comeback and if only they showed some of that in the first half but the last play was not good...Jones had to come to the ball to get the pass and had his back to the basket. Probably Kugel was the best option to get a shot off or even Reeves as he has made big 3's at times at the end of games.
That was the one area that I thought White excelled at. If only he could have been that good at other areas of coaching.
I don't understand either. That's not something you have to draw-up in a timeout. You have 2-3-4 of those plays that are run at practices. I agree, really needs to improve.
I agree Lofton has underperformed with all the hype coming in...but it's still Golden calling the plays/sets. For the life of me, I cannot understand why we bring the ball up slowly when the other team tries to casually press. Then we have about 15 -18 seconds to run a play. Guess what, our chance to score percentage wise goes down significantly as there's not much time left on the shot clock. Why do you think we're taking so many 3 point shots...because we're rushing to run a play and have to jack it up as the shot clock is close to expiring. Why are we not pushing the ball fast every time? This is where Golden fails badly. He does not coach smart or counter the other coach's scheme..he plays right into the other coach's game plan every time. Look at the 2nd half when push the ball up the court faster. Don't even get me started on the end of game plays.
