Agreed. Plus I think he wants his chance to gather players for his class and he should get that chance IMO.

Good system fit, and they seem to be ok with the risk of his health in the throwing arm

Mitchell from OSU started 8 games in 2021. He had an injury in 2022 that keep him off the field.

Spulock was a true freshman but was highly regarded.

No doubt...losing 2 committed Elite 11 QB's who both wanted to be here. With the exception of Trask, it seems the curse of Timmy T (graduating) lives on at the QB position.

I’m actually pretty sanguine about Mertz in ‘23 then Lagway ‘24.

But a 5 star MLB who started for OSU doesn't fit the narrative, nor does a 4/5 star QB who starred in the All star game, played 3 years in the B1G in a bad fit for a system. We will forget these inconveniences and whine about the bad fits and risks that we were never going to take because that's what we do here.

I see a cause and effect coming from this whole NIL fiasco. I was thinking how In the NFL , how often do you have 2 or more elite QB's getting elite money? You really don't, not for long if they do, teams can't pay top money to a guy who is riding the bench. So how long will college teams be able to pay a full stable of top QB's. Once this first wave of NIL recipients become upper classmen, and yiu have a new wave of elite prospects who may not see the field till year 3, but still garnered big money just to commit. All that money and the kid may never play.

I feel the days of stacking elite players at a position like QB may start to change. In the pros , the starting QB generally is the highest paid of his position, with the best contract and the back ups have back up contracts but in this NIL world it won't work like that, the highest paid QB won't be the starter, it will bebthe newest signed unproven recruit. I think this will create more parity with team among highly talented QB's

It's been a rough ride for a while. Not to mention how bittersweet it is to see Keyontae Johnson crushing it on the basketball court for Kstate instead of the Gators. I'm not in the worry wart camp over Napier and the long goal but to say we haven't been a cursed school for a while now would be lying.

With Rashada we had 4 in the room not counting some quality PWOs. I would now expect another QB to replace Reshada to bring it back to 4. But there were never two

With Brown playing baseball I consider we have two full-time quarterbacks in the room. That’s not an opinion that’s a fact.
While the other quarterbacks will be doing things January, February, March, and April Brown will be doing things with the baseball team a large majority of that time.

Brown is on football scholarship. I can't see any way he will miss any spring football or any critical football time. If he wants to squeeze in some baseball stuff good for him. But when football is footing the bill that's where the focus will lie.
We have very little knowledge of what he brings to the table as a QB, but spring will go a long way toward determining his future.

As a college QB, critical time is all the time but certainly we would agree that when Mertz and Miller are working Jan- March that Brown will be with baseball team. Guessing he and Sully have some agreement but I’m pretty sure he’s got to go to baseball practice.

Yes and a bump class that is #15 or #16 ( depending on which service you look at).

    They handle business.
Leary and Levis pretty solid in portal
    Hartman- ND
    Sanders- ?

Mertz has lots of experience. Let’s hope a change of scenery and throwing earlier help him.
