In 2015-16, Tennessee had back-to-back 9-4 records. They thought they turned the corner then. This year, they finished 11-2, the same record as Muschamp in 2012 and Mullen in 2019. Let's wait and see... And ET, Hooker was 24 last year, with four years as a starting quarterback...
Why? We should be able to have a conversation on how we can impact change at the top. We should never accept mediocrity, failure or become complacent
Couldn't agree more. My problem is that I have a hard time defining what constitutes mediocrity and failure. It seems to keep changing...
At Rocky Top you are dealing with inbred hillbillies what do you expect. Damn closest people there are to Deliverance! That will never change.
I'm sure they would recognize a noisy protest, but you know what else they recognize: fan apathy. When the stadium starts emptying out early, filling up late, or just being too many empty seats, they notice. That is usually the best indication that things are on shaky ground.
You can easily make an argument for SS to be fired but you have to give his hires some time. Personally if no SEC Championship in football or basketball by the end of the 2024 season then I say you move on. The new AD gets a year to evaluate and determine the path he wants to go. SS absolutely does not get another chance at a major hire if these fail
Well the “failure” of an AD forced out a reasonably successful bball coach because he was clearly not improving year over year. Got rid of McElwain at earliest possible moment. Same with Mullen once he started going south. You can’t really say Mullen was bad at UF his first 3 years. He got that football facility funded and completed - which UF had dragged its feet on for years. Now, realizing they needed complete football infrastructure change - SS hired a guy with good background and plan to build for the long haul. I agree his future is tied to BN’s success. But that is more like 4-5 years from now.
Not only pimping Tennessee.. he's pimping this record As if you would accept that from Billy Napier.. 1-6 bowl record? It's fine to have an opinion but please at least do yourself a favor and include references that actually help your argument instead of just using the schools that made the playoffs that year. You can't tell me with a straight face that you would accept 1-6 when you can even let Billy have a mulligan season one.
Know your Hookers and hold your Weinke. This Hooker was only 24 while Weinke was pushing 30. CBN could duplicate the same model as either the poodles or the Vols. Not sure it would matter though since both of them excelled by passing and Napier prefers running them into the ground.
OK, UT's coaching issues are well known but the OP also mentioned Mich. For perspective, Hairball was hired the same year we got Mackelwain. They have had a pretty good last couple years but that's it. How about we give Napier the same length rope that Harbaugh got and then we can storm the castle with pitchforks.
Gainesville is in the middle of a housing crisis. I doubt storming the gates over football wins for a program that just invested millions into facilities and staff will be top priority for anyone here. #saveyourenergyforthingsthatmatter
I hope people actually look up the performance of SS’s hires before they bacon strip you. He’s been terrible.
I've never understood this argument. Expecting to be competitive with the resources we have is entitled? I would say it's realistic. At the very least, we are underachieving and getting a terrible ROI. In my like of work, leadership is shown the door if you're underperforming after several years on the job
