Pure stupidity. Everyone has a right to make as much as they can no matter their age. It's buyers and sellers. The thought that limiting someone's income based on the fact they are a young person is insane.

Why would UF go after a high school qb with that kind of money...I would prefer they go after the FSU QB Travis and offer him a back door deal to enter the portal that way you get a proven QB and you also hurt your rival. FSU probably can't afford to compete money wise with UF and we should be trying to poach players to decimate them. Even if some might not jump ship they may ask for more money from FSU crippling their ability to compete for recruits. For those that want to cry it is against the NCAA rules to do this...it is the new reality and you need to get on board or get left behind.

It's easy for fans to say "we didn't want him, anyways", but QB is a really tough position to recruit. NFL teams make mistakes all the time and they have way more info to go on than high school tape. I just can't see throwing any kind of real money at unproven players like that whose best attributes can't be measured or quantified. Being a good QB is really hard. History says Rashada would have a hard time just being as good as Jeff Driskel.

Big time NIL money should be saved for the super human size/speed prospects like Carlos Dunlap or Brandon Spikes, players who are just uncharacteristically huge for 17-year-olds. Even if they don't turn out to be great, they can still at least usually do something useful.

Seems to me it's basically stating what has happened is illegal right? I thought decisions to play at schools couldn't be contingent on NIL money and deals, isn't this basically admitting he was going to take money to come to UF?

I think you are mistaken in equating college football with a free market economy. They are not equivalent and college football will not work under that model.

At least the NFL has a draft. This takes the worst of all worlds and attaches our University's name to it.

The sleezy NFL is laughing that they've gotten Universities to run their farm league for free.

did you just awake from a long coma?

college football is absolutely a free market economy. the only way this comment makes sense is as a prognostication that college football cannot sustain itself like this and will change, which I personally pray will happen but doubt highly.

Fair or not we look cheap and untrustworthy

We = football program + NIL Operations. While distinct recruits and the media view them as linked

The NCAA thought they were special and limited players ability to make an income outside of the scholarship.
That is the entire reason we have what we have now. The judiciary has said otherwise.
If it collapses under it's own weight so be it.

And there is the problem. Too many folks don't get that there are two choices, bad and REALLY bad. Well, three (allegedly): stay the course. If you truly buy a player because you can (and not just potential) you recognize you are a professional franchise and loyalty to the team is WAY down the list of priorities.

Will The Great Unwashed still spend their hard-earned money (and time) to a bunch of mercenaries?

Disagree, I think the NCAA imposed the rules it did because it saw what a mess an unregulated "market" would look like over a hundred years ago with schools essentially buying players. Universities did not like that system and they banded together to create the NCAA in order to impose some universal rules on amateurism.

I see posts on this board vilifying the NCAA all the time likening it some kind of foreign occupier imposing its sadistic will upon the poor helpless universities and student, which ignores the history and make-up of the organization itself.

We have now gone full circle and schools are basically buying athletes again using the veneer of NIL.

Yeah, but the best way to do that is to send his ass packing. Seriously, I don't want this guy anywhere near our program and I have no idea why he hasn't already been released. If I was BN, I couldn't sign that paper fast enough.

It was still illegal and should have never been allowed to be in place for as long as it has been.
Google student athlete and the NCAA. It was a term they made up to not have to pay athletes.

There are more people on our side than those taking shots. My Georgia friends think Rasheeda is a douche. Get off the jock sniffer/recruiting sites.
