He can’t take credit for mkt based solutions. That’s what’s behind this IMO. He’s a big gov control freak. Relatedly, I am in Durango which has had a housing issue for at least 25 years. I drove by the old shack were I lived 25 years ago & they have squeezed another house into the back yard of my old place & done that all along the avenues with allies. I assume that musta needed some zoning changes.

Florida judge rejects DeSantis request to dismiss migrant flights lawsuit

Judge John Cooper’s ruling set the stage for a full hearing in the constitutional challenge filed by state Sen. Jason Pizzo, D-North Miami Beach. The flights to Martha’s Vineyard drew national attention and came as DeSantis, a potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate, frequently criticizes federal immigration policies.

The lawsuit deals with the interplay of the state budget and substantive laws. It contends that part of this year’s budget used to pay for the flights violated the Florida Constitution because it created a new program and changed laws about issues such as contracting.

“I deny the defendants’ motion to dismiss on the grounds that I think we need to just hear out these issues.” Cooper said after a roughly two-hour hearing.

Lawmakers included $12 million in the budget for the Department of Transportation to carry out a “program to facilitate the transport of unauthorized aliens from this state.” The DeSantis administration used $615,000 of that money to pay Vertol Systems Company, Inc. to transport two planeloads of migrants on Sept. 14 from San Antonio, Texas, to Martha’s Vineyard, with a stop in the Northwest Florida community of Crestview.

So, if I understand this issue correctly, the NHL has determined that it has been discriminating against minorities in its hiring practices and would like to rectify the situation. Plus, it also would like to give veterans more job opportunities. So, it puts together a job fair for the aforementioned people to attend. DeSantis then says that the NHL is discriminating against the people that it hasn’t been discriminating against. DeSantis is a jerk. So, if I have an all-white, all-hetero law firm, and I would like to hire some minorities and some veterans, I also have to interview the white heteros. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

That particular lawsuit isn't going anywhere imo. (By anywhere, I mean that it won't be successful.)

contractor that did not satisfy any of the bid requirements given a sweetheart deal by a former employee to spend money on something that does not meet the requirements for the funding source and you think a judge will dismiss all of that?

If I "qualified," DeSantis wouldn't have thrown a temper tantrum.

I will amend my statement. I saw the original complaint and didn't think it would pass muster. He apparently had the original complaint tossed and filed a new complaint, so there might be a better shot than I thought. Still, keep in mind that the First DCA (the state appellate court the case would go to) is far right, and the Florida Supreme Court is majority DeSantis appointees. I wouldn't hold my breath.

New divestment emphasis away from social considerations. As far as I can tell, we still have never divested from Russia:
