Impressive win by the Giants over the Vikings. The key was sitting nearly every regular the week before in a meaningless game against the Eagles. Defensively, they got a number of regulars back from injury, but it was offensively where the game was won and the head coach and offensive coordinator did a terrific a terrific job of developing, implementing and executing a near perfect game plan, leveraging that extra week. How does this apply to Florida. First off, I just don't see how we can ever offer an innovative offense without an OC. Napier just has too much to do to manage the overall program. While Jones and Barkley get most of the headlines. a little use backup running back, Matt Breida, who had been cut by two teams, was a bit of a secret weapon. Occasionally lining up as Barkley's replacement, I was more impressed when both Breida and Barkley were in the game together and the chaos that they caused. When was the last time you saw a Statue of Liberty play where Jones handed off to Breida behind his back. With two blue chip running backs, why couldn't both Johnson and Etienne be on the field together. Maybe Richardson couldn't execute the touch passes last year, but I suspect Mertz will be capable. While the Giants offensive line isn't very good, I was impressed with how good they were in critical third down situations, something we have been terrible at. The use of a jumbo package with six linemen or a tight end lined up as fullback are just a few wrinkles we should be utilizing. Giants vs. Vikings - NFL Box Score - January 15, 2023 | ESPN
My biggest take-away from the game is that the Vikings, despite having Dalvin Cook at RB, abandoned the run game way too early. The Giants were dropping 6-7 CBs all game long.
As a Viking fan I knew this game was going to be tough to win, because they were terrible on the run the entire year. On offense I think Kurt Cousins needs to go. He can’t get it done… Dalvin Cook should have carried the ball more. Outside of JJ he’s the Vikings most explosive player on offense.
The Vikings had some real bad issues on defense this year. The fact that they won 11 out of 12 one score games this season does not make them a fraud.. Eleven other teams had the same opportunity to win those games this year but they didn't get it done.
Nope Tito the fraud team this year is Tampa Bay. Division winner? Losing record? Playoff team?! Last in the league in rushing.
Someone had to win that division. Vikings were a fraud man. I’m a diehard Cowboys fan, we played them and I think they were 7-1? We whipped the absolute piss out of them. You could see it then, this team was a fugazzee (sp?)
That's only one game. The Vikings were 4-0 vs AFC East opponents including trips to Miami and Buffalo. Only a fool gauges a season of work on one game. Dallas runs out of luck next week anyway. Beating a fraud Tampa team doesn't constitute anything special. Prescott will go back to his interception prone games to which he accustomed.
Next weekend games have the potential to be pretty good. A couple of the match-ups are especially interesting for me. I don’t have a dog in the fight, just hoping for good games.
