LSU QB Walker Howard enters the portal

Mullen didn't recruit him, so no reason to visit, but he definitely knows CBN, more importantly.

 

Great question. We have 10 pages about this kid and there is nothing about his interest, a visit, when he would enroll, etc...

I'm moving on until he schedules a visit.

I guess we have our Spring QB's...Brown, Miller and Mertz. Maybe the IMG walk-on enrolled early too? But Brown is playing baseball so not sure how he can do both effectively.

 

I doubt he would commit sight unseen so until there is news he is visiting campus, I don't think he is coming our way. Hopefully there will be word that he is in town soon.

He is in the portal so that is all that matters. He can take the spring semester and make visits, official or unofficial. He can make a decision for summer A.

This is really a smart play. He can observe what happens around spring camp and games and really evaluate who needs a QB and where he can get immediate playing time. Enroll summer A and charge into fall camp.

Not being in school for the spring semester, he can focus 100% on his game. Work with a private QB coach, trainer etc.

 

Nope. He’s been to Ole Miss and TCU this weekend.

Ugh! A couple of weeks ago the Oklahoma state QB Spencer Sanders was favored to land here. Not exciting but could at least give us experienced depth? And create spring ball competition for Mertz?

That’s a very good sign, imho. Billy & Co are clearly pursuing and they didn’t get a stop sign don’t bother from the WH team.

 

transfers have until January 26th to enroll. That was reported by another site. Freshmen deadline has passed. However, there are ways to get someone in after the deadlines.

I wonder if the reported full court press on Howard says anything about the current prospects for JR ending up in G'ville? IMHO, it seems like a shaky proposition at best at this point, and I find it hard to believe that Billy is too thrilled about the situation. I really hope (there's that word again) that something positive comes to pass soon - one way or the other.

 

Could even be a negotiating scheme to show him how UF has options and how his value to any team is diminishing as this plays out.
