Thoughts are with her family. But what a shame that a kid would ruin his life like this. He wasn’t some broke kid with no future and nothing to loser, he was on an athletic scholarship at a major university with a shot at a long pro career in Europe at a minimum.
Just such a waste all around, even if he isn’t eventually convicted his name is ruined.

While I understand the empathy, the sentiment "there is nothing worse than wasted talent" seems tone deaf to me. It's tragic he made a terrible decision in the heat of a moment but I'm going to say being the victim of a stray bullet is worse.

Terrible situation all around and I do feel for him and his family as well.

However bad you feel for him you must feel infinitely worse for the victim and her family. Put your compassion and your sympathy with them.

Looks like he was with a friend from MD/DC area. Sometimes childhood friends prevent you from leaving past behind. JC Jackson had trouble from past follow him to Gville one weekend. I think Aaron Hernandez never escaped his roots either. Not an excuse at all, but challenging leaving childhood friends behind, especially if family still lives in old neighborhoods

If I’m reading correctly, they were intentionally shooting at the car that had the female passenger. So not entirely a “stray”, depending on her level of involvement in the altercation. That’s why it’s “capital murder”. It wasn’t a random bystander, they intended to shoot that car.

Don’t mistake that as me giving her culpability, the driver of her car “returned fire” himself and claims self defense. Presumably the police have evidence the two arrested boneheads were the aggressors in the incident.

In Alabama, shooting into an occupied vehicle and killing someone is capitol murder whether you pulled the trigger or not. Listening to the local sports shows up here, it seems like they were trying to speak with her and she ignored them and her boyfriend intervened. Stupid.

I think the recruiting priorities by Bama snd Oates is pretty obvious now.
