My bad, y’all. I should have just dropped it after making my initial comments.

He doesn't have to to enroll until summer B/fall camp.

 

But by stating he was heading to Gainesville from Orlando and showing up as an EE like he said he was gonna do he created a publicity fiasco by not showing up and for the one reason he stated wasn't the reason he committed in the 1st place.

Keeping it private would have done both parties a great deal of good.

 

A couple of honest questions for anyone who knows:

Did he ever publicly say that he was planning to be an early entry? I thought he did but maybe I'm wrong.

And does it legitimately constitute "bashing" either the kid or his parents/advisors to criticize him/them if Mark Long got it right about having an agreement for one million in place, and now when it it's time to go, the price of poker suddenly goes up? Some here seem to think so - even in the absence of the kind scathing denunciations one would usually expect to constitute actual bashing.

I'm honestly not trying to be putz here. I just would like to clarify things a bit though if it's possible to do so.

 

Sure I get it. Could be both parties thought it would be worked out before enrollment. So it was business as usual right up to the deadline.. But if he did enroll, he loses any leverage he might have and be forced to use his transfer if it didn't work out.
Now he still has the option to enroll for summer A or ask to be let out of LOI.

 

possibly only one but thats the narrative that is out there. most people won't take the time to look any further into the details and just go with what is being reported.

 

I think he should have to enroll and then lose his one time transfer. For basically taking up a spot, and basically putting our QB position on limbo, like wise I feel that UF should still lose that scholarship when he transfers. Both parties lose something.

That's not how it works.
He signed during the early period but is not required to enroll until fall camp. Some voluntarily enroll early.

Regardless whomever is at fault for this fiasco, Florida would release him from his NLI

 

Great post - I think the bulk of this exchange here is people like you and me looking for a place to vent a little frustration.
