Until there are some teeth placed into the consequences of false reporting by "journalists", the fabrication of narratives will continue to happen.

Journalism is driven by online ad revenue. Titles of articles are intended to bring the clicks. 13 mill is going to do just that.

I should have said very funny, because Thomas Jefferson spoke about this same problem 300 years ago!

That was an interesting read. Thanks!
Going off topic, but do online reporters not have anyone do a quick proofread before tossing articles out on the web? (A wife, a friend, a pet?) It took me 3-5 mins to read that article and could have pointed out two obvious typos, one in the first sentence.

Have to agree with Ruiz, if 13M or 8M, way too much for 30-50th rank kid. For that ranking, maybe not even $1M for being an unproven commodity. That kind of money, he'd have to be a Day-one starter and be near the top SEC QB.

not negative at all, just that this program HAS to get its shit together> at this point UF looks inept at the very least. we are all over the media as screwing this recruitment up. If I appear negative thats the narrative that is out there. It's not bashing if that is the perception this is a giant stain on the brand and the university no way to spin it unless you get on top of this and both sides can spin this to the positive or you can stick your head in the sand and hope it turns out oh. yeah I GOT IT. Many times in my post I have stated that the UF/Napier are not responsible for this issue, However unfortunate it is THEY are responsible to fix it. I hope as do the rest of us that early this week they have a solution to this, the longer it goes on the worse it looks and the more negative PR we will get. Yeah I got it bud.

If Ruiz said it you can count on it being self-serving before ever considering it an honest statement

Absolutely not. However, I haven’t posted any comments assigning fault to any of the parties involved. In the post I quoted, you clearly have decided the fault rests with a UF related entity. I was wondering if you had any verifiable info to share? Based on your response, it would appear as though you do not. Which, to me, is surprising since you’ve chosen a narrative to believe.

it's all speculation and we may never know what/who caused this but we all know who is going to have to fix it.

Perhaps. But, that doesn’t relate to the question I directed towards @SuperMOM . You, like Edgar Thompson, are trying to walk back your statement, to some extent. I was trying to get an idea of whether MOM’s opinion of blame was supported by any facts. I do this because: (1) As you’ve stated, this is a PR hit to UF. As a Gators fan, and a financial contributor to the athletics at our university, I’d sincerely like to know wt* is going on. (2) Because it already is reflecting poorly on UF’s image, at least as it pertains to the football program, I tend to bristle at Gator fans that seem to want to adopt that negative slant. So, I’m compelled to see if there is some substance behind the stance.
