Didn’t realize that UF was not a school with money like the other top tier schools . I guess oil, peaches , iron makes way more that Florida oranges .Sure thought we had deeper pockets and would keep up with the big boys !
But not to worry we have a top 5 Academic institution and a Gymnastics team ! That will shut the Dogs , Nole and Bammer fans up!

Of course it’s changed? Where has the NCAA changed it and what did they change it to?

What’s changed is that the NCAA can’t hide behind “student athletes” and “amateurism” any longer. Not sure if you’re seriously asking, but here’s a good editorial that gives a summary of how we got here.

    The NCAA’s “Amateurism” Rules

Yes, I am asking if they are still legally referred to as student athletes or if that changed. And if it did change, what did it change to? Because if it hasn’t changed, all of this is so far beyond ridiculous and obviously contradictory to the term student athlete. Something has to give, obvi.

The real world is not black and white…and is sprinkled with lawsuits. Obviously, the NCAA has no teeth at this point and even if they try to use the term and continue to redefine it to fit their goals, the writing is on the wall.

Bama also KNOWS that nobody will come after them for anything they do. They are literally above the law, or the rules, or both. Florida on the other hand knows the pain of being singled out and punished for shit that everybody else around us is doing. Big damn difference and you cant criticize UF for having the system stacked against us

I get it, but whatever the actual number is in the great Rashada sweepstakes, I find it hard to believe that anyone in the locker room is going to hear the stories about a 13M windfall for an unproven freshman and not develop some degree of WTF?! syndrome. But perhaps they're all above that sort of thing, what with being such fine young men and all. And when I think about it, things went so well for atm and their boatload of instant zillionaires last year, perhaps I should just calm the hell down and let nature take its course. Yeah, that's it...I'll just calm the hell down and all will be well! I mean what could go wrong? Why didn't I think of that?!

Seems you are the only fan hung up on trying to push the agenda that it was $13M…

Aaron z Rodgers took all the money and his number one receiver left insuring the team won’t win another super bowl. What did that do to that lockeroom? Who knows but all the players in that lockeroom take as much as they can get so they do probably have a bit of und.

He is assuming because it’s fits his narrative of giving the player the benefit of the doubt and not Florida. He is very pro player with all of his posts. It’s evident.

The crux of this centers around the guys who are deemed NFL caliber athletes or prospects out of high school. This may seem unpopular, but the only way I see college football being saved is by allowing these guys to enter a prospect or developmental league out of high school, much like the NBA has. Just stop pretending they have any interest in getting an education from a college. Once those guys are removed from the college equation, focus on getting athletes that aren’t quite at that level who may see value in playing football and hedging their future prospects by getting an education. I just don’t see this current situation of NIL, transfer portal and me-first athletes being sustainable over the long term any longer. College football is dying. It’s off the rails and it’s time to start looking at realistic solutions.

We have to pay Walker Howard. With this fiasco how the heck are we going to do that?

Much less than Rashada. Much less and much closer to being ready. Bottom line our QB room is Miller and Mertz. Brown playing baseball.

Id rather Walker Howard than Rashada from a football and separation standpoint

That doesn’t change the fact the UF collectives are a cluster and someone has to write a big check that can’t bounce

I just hope Florida has learned the lessons of dealing with the NCAA: lawyer up early and aggressively. Tell them to hurry up and get finished with whatever they want to do while we fight you every step . . . because as soon as you're finished, if we don't like it, we're going straight to big boy court, with subpoena power, and sue your rear-end off for its selective enforcement (which makes it illegal enforcement) because it interferes with our conference and TV money and all sort of other things.
