So ...... When midnight shows up and if Rashada is still not enrolled, any takers on how quickly the lawsuits fly? 1 week??

Well played. I just smell BS here. There will be no $13M payment because there was never a $13M deal. Period. End of story.

 

So many stories out there … I guess you can torture this version into being consistent with the previous/Pate narrative that the GC/Rashada were faultless and a third party is the problem.

But this version more or less points towards Hathcock, which I don’t buy. He is an actual professional adult and has donated more to the University than many of us will see in a lifetime. He was clearly involved with Rashada and likely the Lagway negotiations. It makes zero sense that he would write /pledge checks he’s unwillingy to have cashed.

Please accept my apologies, I clearly mistook your intentions. In a nutshell, to answer your question about my accepting mediocrity as a ceiling, the answer is no, of course not. But in 72 years on this beautiful little planet, I've learned that nothing of true, lasting value can be finagled, stolen or held for ransom. It must be earned by hard work or won honorably in fair, above-board competition - otherwise, it's just not worth having. Short cuts usually lead nowhere, and ill-gotten gains will eventually turn to ashes on the tongue. I want to win as much as anyone on this board, but I care deeply about how we go about doing it. IMO, one of the truest indications of just how great Steve Spurrier really is, was the fact that he achieved everything he did without a hint of scandal or hypocrisy - all while competing against a conference full of cheats and hypocrites. I take as much pride in that aspect of his success as I do in the NC and SEC titles he won for us.

I know that we are currently getting our lunch eaten by the scUM of the world when it comes to NIL and its effect on recruiting. I hate it as much as anyone and I want us to get our act together ASAP - just like everyone else. But I personally believe that we are laboring at a "disadvantage" in two areas. First, we have an administration that simply refuses to engage in conduct that they consider to be beneath the dignity of a great public university - or to skirt the law in any way, shape, form or fashion. And unless there is a huge sea-change when the new President takes over, I don't foresee us ever getting into any school orchestrated bidding wars, either directly or indirectly. Secondly, we really are behind the curve when it comes to creating monetary inducements for players on the make for the biggest possible bag. Sadly, the atms, bammers, dwags and scUMs of the world are well practiced in the art of the steal, while we pretty much look like the gang that couldn't shoot straight. That part of the equation must change, and I hope like hell that it changes soon. Lastly, I know that I can come across as a sanctimonious old coot and a wide-eyed Pollyanna. 2 sources, the Athletic and the JP podcast both has stated essentially the same thing. That the 3rd party screwed the pooch. Both claim to have sources. Are they using the same source? Who knows.
We will know if the Rashada's file a lawsuit.

 

Atlanta radio did a segment on Stetson Bennett cashing in on recent success. Mentioned unnamed sources that his NIL was ~1.3M. And we are to believe that we offered this kid 13M?

 

Yep, it’s absurd.

 

What a mess. Amateur hour. We are a laughing stock yet again.

 

I just bought a whole life policy from Bennett and he threw in a signed football even though I asked him not to.

 

Still hoping we get the kid but it’s looking doubtful by the hour. Hopefully this doesn’t give us a bad rep with future recruits
