I thought Bama was known to heavily grey shirt in order to process out players. At one point the number of players processed in 4 years was almost an entire class or more than Florida in the same period. Win at all cost. I also remember Spurrier specifically admonishing that tactic and stated a scholarship should and would be honored for 4 years.
I think that's the main reason I disagree with 96's take on why players should be allowed to transfer every year. Maybe they are one year contracts but I can't recall florida not honoring schollys for the 4 years. There certainly hasn't been a rash of that happening like we see with players transferring today
Agree. The other way to slow all this down from both sides is to reinstate the "initial counters" limitations. Schools only able to bring in 25 kids every year are not going to be able to process out kids and bring in crazy amounts of new kids. And kids won't jump into the portal so fast if their options of new locales are limited
Absolutely processed. It is part of the plan. Get as many 5 stars as possible and process out the ones that don't develop.
In a perfect world I think they would have preferred he stay. The general understanding is that he's been working hard to put on weight and that it just hasn't worked out for him for whatever reason. In after season exit interview he was basically told there wouldn't be a ton of playing time for him next season, barring something unforeseen and so here we are. Most expect him to land at one of the 3 Florida schools.
I was born in P.I. but grew up in Florida, so I 100% agree. I helped my son move to Cincinnati after graduating from UF to get his masters degree from UC. It was August. I asked him why would he want lo live in that depressing environment. Because UC was offering more scholarsip money. Anyway, it was really depressing when we visited him in January. LOL
I have had friends like that too that couldn't gain a lick of weight, resulting in it being hard to gain any muscle also. We had a DE Jarvis Moss who was an elite recruit and ended up in the NFL for 6 years but couldn't gain weight in Zook's era. When Meyer took over they discovered an infection that kept his weight off. He lost 3 years from that, but won a national championship. Anyhow Singletary's highlights in high school showed plenty of athleticism, but that is only part of being a football player. Hopefully it works out for him one place or another. I have to think though that he expected to play early regardless of what CKS said to him when recruited, and sometimes that just doesn't happen for talented guys. There have been a lot of busts at db in the Jax area and in FL in general, and I don't think he is necessarily, but I take the rankings with a grain of salt with a lot of these db. I think your Bulldogs had some FL db a few years ago that underwhelmed as well.
Singletary still has plenty of time to be an excellent player. He just happened to be on the most talented team in America. I’d love to see us get him. May not start this year but would definitely start at some point. Athletically and size to me are major advantages at DB.
According to the UGA fans his only real problem was his inability to gain weight/muscle. I know how it's done, I think good/great nutritionists know how it's done too.
