Title lx has to be adhered to and I don’t seeing that going away. I do however see whole scale changes in maybe the next ten years. I don’t see fans nor schools going down this road permanently and having full stadiums.

I was too young to know Herchals deal and didn’t pay much attention back then. In the 99’s though, there were basically a dozen hof coaches who all had a shot at the title. It wasn’t until the last decade that it went completely lopsided where a select few started taking all the talent. I knew money had completely taken over when a few teams took all the players and the rest of the major schools got nothing but leftovers. Muschamp wax our last coach to recruit a highly ranked class and it wasn’t because he is a better recruiter than Napier.

I agree with the principle but it’s way too far reaching. Not having mens soccor and things like that because of straight equal numbers is just wrong. Men just natural play sports more than women.

With two teenage kids (one boy, one girl), my personal experience runs contrary to your last statement. It feels like I'm seeing more girls playing sports than boys (though my kids both play.) I would bet there are studies strongly correlating the implementation of Title IX with girls increased participation in sports.

I agree I would love to have a men's soccer team at UF. My brother played keeper for the UF club team back in the late 80s.

None of this feels like college football anymore.

There is the rub. Said 3rd party doesn't have the money. What is being said is 3rd party made promises off of pledges and those pledges didn't materialize into actual donations.

I'd like to see some kind of collective bargaining agreement so NIL isn't a game-changer or advantage to any one school. The primary problem with NIL is that it makes college football more of a business and less about the love and passion for a particular school.

Turn NIL into something offered by the conference as a whole or some variation of that without strings attached to play for a particular school in conference, you split the baby. Players still get paid, but it's not really everyone gravitating towards the programs offering the most money... maybe the conferences offering the most money but (1) that benefits the Gators :D and (2) it at least alleviates the problem a bit.

I'm not sure if such rules would even be legal anymore, however. This would mean the NCAA would still be restricting some of these third party deals, which is exactly what turned this into a legal mess in the first place.

Girls do play a lot more than they use to and titlelx definitely supports that. I just wish there was a way for all to play whatever they want. The money supporting tgat is a mess. My kid had to pay 500 to play basketball in a public school this year. Maybe that’s the way it should be. Why should someone else pay my kids way to play something that doesn’t generate money. There are really very many womens pri sports because of that but it’s just the reality.

Why doesn't your kid have an NIL deal for his social media influence?

I like all that but the more equitable we try to make it, the more some schools (the same ones that always do it) will just go back to the bags of cash and the houses for their parents.

You will never get a players association to agree to limiting NIL. Nor should it be. Its an outside revenue stream for the players.
Nothing about this should be equitable. Stars get paid, depth gets lunch.

So back to the way things were 10 years ago.

I think most of the people who hate NIL around here would think that's a big improvement.

You're right that it probably won't happen, but we can all dream can't we? :D

But I wouldn't say never, the NCAA has things to offer. You can establish this basic minimum for football programs so more student athletes benefit, with the caveat that it likely lowers the ceiling for the higher end players. But in the end, there may be more NIL money in circulation under such a deal and more of the spirit of college football would be preserved. Still probably won't happen.

What you are saying can come directly from the universities through a CBA, while NIL can still be out there for stars to capitalize on.
You don't see many 3rd string players in any sport doing commercials. It's the studs selling insurance.

What we see now with NIL is these groups are banking on potential not proven commodities.

I believe in time this model will flip. Too many people will be wasting their money on busts or under performers. It will take at least 5-6 recruiting cycles.

Nil wouldn’t dictate everything if there were contracts though. First, they have to be employees. The schools like tge free rosters now. Let’s see how they like it when the stadiums are no longer full.

Going forward if I’m a recruit promised significant NIL money, it damn well better be in an escrow account, or I’m not signing squat. Man this whole thing is a poop show.
