I think that was part of Richardson's problem all year. All he heard was he's going first round. No incentive to ball out. NIL needs to be controlled and incentivized.

I'm not sure I agree with you here.

Why wouldn't he have wanted to go to Alabama? They just had a WR drafted in the first round in 2011 (Julio Jones @ #6), and were coming off a National Championship season. Miami was 6-6 under a 1st year coach, FSU was 9-4, and Florida was 7-6 in Muschamp's first season. Miami hadn't really been relevant in over 5 years, this idea that Cooper would have stayed local doesn't make a lot of sense.

Saban had become a recruiting machine, had already won his 3rd title (second with Alabama), and AJ McCarron was back for his junior season...makes perfect sense why Cooper ended up in Tuscaloosa.

Coaches have been paying players forever. Now it's legal and a free for all and totally out of control.

    Welcome to the Wild West.

I still think it was the right move in principle. But you're right, it needs an anchor and it needs rules and boundaries.

If we're having guys "re-negotiating" NIL deals threatening to refuse to honor their commitments, we're probably not going to win championships anyways.

I'm all for negotiating and having a little flexibility in this new landscape, but you have to draw the line somewhere and put your foot down at some point, otherwise the inmates will be running the asylum. It'll be a complete circus just trying to keep everyone in line day to day.

Totally agree with that train of thought but bouncing checks is on the other end of the spectrum. That’ll dry up recruit pretty darn quick.

This isn't whats happening according to the one podcast.
Rashada was promised in writing and the money is not being delivered. Its not the university.

I’m not so sure college football has been ruined by NIL.

If Jaden doesn’t sign with the Gators today, where’s he going to go?

Something makes me think his family is holding out for more money and they are being told no more money.

Perhaps they want to be set for life based on how much he hopes to get right out of high school.

With all this money flowing around, what’s the need for the NCAA anymore? How do they put a team on probation now?

I'd be shocked if Rashada eventually enrolls at UF.

He'll go somewhere, Oregon is the most likely destination I hear.

NCAA is effectively finished as an enforcement mechanism. There are no rules anymore and those who intend to follow them will finish in the bottom half.

So basically pay to play, which seems to be a no no, right? That’s not NIL if we agree to pay before he even gets to a practice or workout. I’m afraid if this is the story, we will have to deal with an NCAA investigation. Hope not, and I know other schools are doing it, but we all know UF is treated differently.

I think you have that backwards. The scenario you're referencing, if that's actually what happened, demonstrates the school was NOT party to the NIL agreement.

It's not the university that is paying, it's a 3rd party. Agreements were made and apparently not being honored by this 3rd party.

Kids better enjoy this NIL money while it lasts. It's like the ground level of Crypto and eventually the market will correct.

Not to mention everybody's 2 favorite schools: UGA gave Herschel's mom a house. Bama moved Tua's whole family so they could be nearby and gave both of his parents jobs at one of Saban's car dealerships. (If I remember correctly...I'm old)
