Since this means so much in March, I thought I'd start a thread where we can watch and follow the NET Rankings . . . especially as they pertain to Florida.
Through games of December 15, 2022 . . . Florida went up from 56 to 53. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings Everybody can pitch-in and keep it updated for us all. PS -- UConn is currently #1.
Women are 79th with a 10 & 1 record with a weak schedule but a good win on the road against Miami. Go figure
They seem to be improving and the OU game could give reason for optimism. Regardless, February has a huge potential to be ugly if they get pouty after getting manhandled and the coach doesn't make adjustments against teams playing much better.
That's what weak schedules do to you. In their defense, no one foresaw regular NCAAT participant Dayton collapsing into 0-fer status.
I count six SEC teams ahead of FL in the NET: Tennessee (interesting that they are highest) Alabama Mississippi St (interesting that they are third highest) Arkansas Kentucky (interesting that they are fifth highest) Auburn With FL at 53, next highest is Mizzou at 68, then Ole Miss at 70 and LSU at 78.
I’m just looking for team to improve as the year progresses and there is a greater understanding of schemes, system and teammates strengths and tendencies. If we don’t see growth, I think we will be in trouble with Coach Golden.
Florida slipped a little . . . down to 64. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings The lack of Quad 1 wins will take care of itself when the SEC schedule starts next Wednesday. However Auburn dropped to #30 in the NET Rankings and is sitting at 10-2.
After last night's win at Auburn slipped away, Florida still rose from 65 to 64. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings If they keep playing defense like last night, everything else should work itself out.
With the LegHumper win Florida climbs back up to #70. A lot of work to go against a lot of SEC teams ranked highly. Happily Kentucky has fallen to 44. Next up . . . LSU at 89 then Missouri (who almost lost to Vandy) at 32. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings
KenPom had us at 57 this morning. It's not where you want to be to get an at-large bid, but at least it's in the top 68 teams. We'll climb after we whip LSU in Baton Rouge.
With the big road win at LSU, Florida jumped but not as much as I might have expected . . . from #70 up to #68. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings
KenPom has us at 49. A few spots ahead of Missouri. I guess the #34 schedule vs. the 159 has something to do with it.
Thanks! You're right . . . and as of January 13th Florida is up to #55. Missouri at #44 so a winnable game tomorrow!
In Pomeroy, Mizzou sporting the #149 schedule. (We're at 27.) I'm coming around on us scoring in upper 70's. Last few games for Missouri and the opponent score: 82, 82, 74, 75.
