Once again we shoot like crap from 3 and around 60% from 2. 15 offensive rebounds to 8. This is starting to be a trend. Blocks 8 to 0 is a stat that really stands out. Also 24 of 32 from the line. We lived there all night.
We took more shots from 3 at 20% compared to shots from 2 at 60.9%. That is some analytics there for ya,
I know it’s been a disappointing season so far, but you really can’t enjoy a win without finding a tarnished lining? There were a number of improvements tonight that were encouraging. A morale raising win!
Just showing where we can improve. Face it. We are not a solid three point shooting team. We can get streaky but usually not. Shooting more than half of your shots from 3 at a 20% rate is not usually a winning way of doing things and yet it worked tonight. Maybe working the ball inside, then outside and back inside to a single coverage of CC might be a way to maximize our scoring chances. Added in edit: I think that LSU is a pretty bad team in spite of their record.
Jones has really turned it on as of late. Tonight he had the highest value pt score, probably for the first time this season.
I wont be inviting you to the annual Lightning playoff thread when the playoffs start I guess. Geez man.
its kind of what lsu gave us…they kept going under screens leaving us wide open from 3 in the first half.
A Few Quotes from The Advocate sports desk “After a really good first half defensively where we were able to protect our paint better, in the second half, they really put their head down and drove us,” McMahon said. “Our ability to protect the paint wasn’t as effective.” Another bad stretch for the Tigers started midway through the second half and lasted until the final buzzer. Florida started to take control and built a five-point lead twice before Derek Fountain got it back to three at 43-40 with 11:20 to play. At that point, LSU reverted to its first-half shooting woes and made just 4 of 17 to close out the game. That helped Florida take its largest lead of the night at 67-56 with 43 seconds left. Florida also made 24 of 32 free throws, going 18 of 22 after halftime. Florida turned LSU’s 16 turnovers into 23 points while the Tigers managed just five points off of 10 Gators’ miscues. “Really, it was just us making our own mistakes … slipping up too much,” LSU forward KJ Williams said. “Coming out in the second half with the lead, we had slip-ups as a team.” Williams tried to keep his team in it, however, with a game-high 23 points and seven rebounds, but the Tigers’ most accurate shooter was 8 of 20 from the floor — including 1 of 9 from beyond the arc. Williams was the only Tiger to score in double figures. Fountain had eight points and six rebounds, and Trae Hannibal had four points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Florida big man Colin Castleton recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds after being held to five points and three rebounds in the first half. He also had five blocks.
I believe that TG said earlier in the season that the analytics show that you should just shoot 3’s and layups. He needs to reanalyze. I didn’t read this thread until this morning. I thought that the spelling improved dramatically over the course of the game. Good win for the Lightning. Did anyone notice that the Miami Heat shot 40-40 from the free throw line last night?
