Arnett wants to take the Leach feel out of the building and become a defensive team. And the suggestion that we hire SOS based on name is missing the point. I said- he’s got pedigree now … let’s see how he does at Tulsa. Last time we didn’t pull the trigger on a creative young OC was when we could’ve hired Reilly coming out of ECU and we got Mcillwain instead. We need to be creative and utilize Florida speed.
It wasn't like SOS was an offensive guru at USCe... The game's changed. Let the man enjoy his golden years...
No!!!! The majority of his career was because of nepotism. He is in his 50's. He is not anything close to his father.
Not saying he can't or shouldn't enjoy retired life..I don't want him to coach full time..just be a guest coach once in awhile..like make up a few plays...sometimes retired people get restless and bored...as I said earlier..he does enjoy talking football...he is on a show with Shane Matthew's and loves to host events...he does miss coaching sometimes..didn't he coach that professional team in Orlando ? He could just mentor the qbs...he certainly doesn't need to coach full time..doesn't need to..but he does go to games of most UF sports
I never though Spurrier watched what the opposing defense was going to do. He just knew it didn't matter what the other team did he was going to do his thing and no one could stop it with whatever scheme they had. Guy was a genius...a cocky genius.
Not saying he wasn't a cocky genius but he was an expert at finding the weak links in an opposing Defense and exploiting the hell out of it. You gotta watch some film to figure that out.
At least SOS is not afraid of the quick slant pass or the 10 personnel on offense. One simple play and one scheme that need to be implemented, especially if we have (which I think we did) enough good receivers to put on the field at the same time.
