Sounds like he either has severe mental problems or has been abused himself or both. What does a six year old have to get this mad about? Responding officers found a school employee physically restraining the 6-year-old in the classroom, Drew said. The 6-year-old allegedly hit the school employee before police took him into custody, Drew said.
1. All guns should be secured away from ANYONE in the house not prepared, trained, and capable of using it responsibly. This will look very different in very different homes. But no 6 year old should have access to a loaded pistol. 2. My bet is there have been ongoing issues with the child at school and at home. I would actually be surprised if the home life was not troubled/abusive but we clearly don’t know that as of know.( pure speculation based on past experiences.)
The reporting on this today is pretty bad. Three school employees reported to the admin that other kids had seen the gun and he was threatening them with it during recess… the admin blew off the reports as “unlikely” and said “kids pockets are too small to carry a gun”… A forth teacher asked if he could be removed from the class room and searched, and the admin denied the request… The administrator was fired today.. Presumably the principal and/or vice principal (who apparently also resigned) are more directly responsible, or did they actually communicate directly with the Super? The people who heard the complaints and did nothing certainly have to go, the article just isn’t clear on who they are attributing what to, just vaguely referring to “administrators”. Ultimately while some “administrators” should take the fall with their jobs, I think alot still has to go back to the parents, it was their gun + their child after all. Unfortunately the school district (I.e. taxpayers and the very parents of those children impacted in the classroom) probably foot the bill when the school district settles.
Bumping this one for new developments ... I'm guessing this related to the allegations in post #104, the assistant principal that ignored reports that the kid had brought a gun to school that day is (finally) facing criminal charges.
