Lots of good choices but the answer is Emmitt Smith. Couldn't go wrong in my mind with Fred Taylor or Errict Rhett but Emmitt is in a class of his own.

You may well be right. I don’t remember hearing that he pointed with plow, or that he was plowing without an animal.

Lots of great players to choose from and anyone of these would be worthy of getting the ball from two yards out.

    Emmitt Smith
    Larry Smith
Larry Dupree (first Gator RB to be 1st team all American)
    Jimmy DuBose
    James Jones
    Lorenzo Hampton
    John L Williams
    Neal Anderson
    Errict Rhett
    Fred Taylor
    Ciatrick Fason
    Earnest Graham
    Dameon Pierce

Gators have been fortunate to not only have these standouts suit up in the Orange and Blue but also the speed burners like Harvin and Demps and the FB's like McGrady and McNabb and many more backs that haven't been mentioned in this thread. Go Gators.

    Too many good options.

    I'll go with Tebow.

Rhett is my pick! I'd bring in Des Watson at Fullback

Re: Larry Smith. His Robinson High school played Coral Gables high for state title. The CG team's QB was Larry Rentz who played QB and DB for UF. The Robinson team, though with 1/2 the players that CG brought to game (I was there) had a backfield of Randy Smith (no relation to Larry) at QB, who signed with Uga. The FB was Phil Shaeffer who signed with Bama. The other RB was Fred Branch who signed with the Univ of Tampa. The DL had Jim Hadley who signed with UF and another DL guy who I cant recall who signed with a college team. They were loaded, but a bad call by a ref on a fumble that went out of bounds by Fred Branch gave CG the shot to kick the winning FG at the end. Darn refs.

Larry Smith signed with UF and started as a soph (no fr played then). He was all world his soph and jr year but injured at times in 1968, his last year. He was on the cover of THE football mag, Street and Smith, to start the 1968 season.

LS was 6-4, yep still is, with massive wide shoulders and about 230lb. He had narrow hips and would look like a very tall Percy today (remember Percy Harvin resembled a race horse, strong up top, speed legs).

LS signed with Rams but when he flew to LA, the airline's gang plank (steps up/down from plane ) moved and caught his ankle, breaking it. Took his speed away. He played in NFL then became the FB for Skins under I think George Allen.

He ended up a lawyer in real estate. I think his wife was a Coral Gables grad, or at least she was from Miami.

Larry was in the 0-51 game in pouring rain in Jax when we lost to Uga. He never went back to see that game as a fan. Ditto Graham McKeel (rip) due to the 1966 game, until Tebow was QB. Then a bunch of guys talked Graham into going back to Jax and the rest is history. He loved seeing live Tebow and the Gators kill uga.

I'm a great grand-nephew of Red's and uncle to Ciatrick (C4), so I'd pick either of them off-tackle.

Mark my words: Tim Tebow will never win a national championship at Florida.
