I also think Apple “fixed” the weakness the Israeli company was using. It was several years ago, the San Bernadino mass shooting, that the Israeli Company made to known they could unlock iPhones.

Edit: I take that back. It appears Apple can’t figure out how Cellibrite is doing it and hasn’t been able to fix the vulnerability.

When sufficiently motivated. Nationally, we are only catching the killer for about 50% of murders.

Interesting statistic. It may well be explained by motivation, and we know what's behind that, don't we? Is it partly a matter of who we think are innocent victims?

This case has really drawn my attention since the start. I havent followed every link in this thread - but I read somewhere that police were actually tipped off by campus police / security at WSU. I tried to search for the story but couldnt find it. Has anyone else read that they initially looked at him because of his car matching the video?

Campus police searched their records and found the vehicle, which matched the description provided by investigators.

    Here's another source.
The white sedan: How police tracked down suspect in Idaho slayings

On Nov. 25, the Moscow Police Department asked regional law enforcement to look for a white Elantra. Three nights later, a WSU police officer ran a query for any white Elantras on campus.

One came back as having a Pennsylvania license plate and being registered to Kohberger. Within half an hour, another campus officer located the vehicle parked at Kohberger’s apartment complex. It came back as having Washington state tags. Five days after the killings, Kohberger had switched the registration from Pennsylvania, his home state, to Washington, the affidavit said.

I suspect it has less to do with motivation and more to do with the existence of available evidence and people willing to turnover available evidence.

Interesting. I think one of the things in the report was that the video showed the car, on the night of the killings, had no front licence plate (which are required in Washington and Idaho), so cops were probably looking for an out of state car. Seems like another attempt to cover up.

I think that's part of it. I'd also like to know the clearance rate of murders when the Feds get involved.

That’s kinda my point. The feds are never gonna get involved to solve a gang shooting because (sadly) nobody cares.

The Feds need a reason to become involved. and there are way too many gang shootings for them to get involved. It’s a numbers thing, plus you need cooperating witnesses.

We have our first reported contact between Bryan and the victims.

I saw elsewhere but can’t find it that he view the instagram pages of a couple others as well

Accused Idaho Killer Bryan Kohberger Repeatedly Messaged One of the Victims on Instagram: Source

In late October, an account that authorities believe belonged to Bryan Kohberger sent a greeting to one of the female victims, the source says. When he didn't get a reply, he sent several more messages to her.

"He slid into one of the girls' DMs several times but she didn't respond," the source tells PEOPLE. "Basically, it was just him saying, 'Hey, how are you?' But he did it again and again."

For as bad as he was at covering it up, it was an incredibly lucky break for the cops that he left his knife sheath with DNA at the scene. They probably don't get a search warrant based on his car and his bushy eyebrows alone.

Yes she can be compelled (although she may assert 5th amendment for her own protection), and concur...very interesting development.

I thought they had the guy dead to rights; very curious to hear what this 'exculpatory evidence' could be.
