Dillon Gabriel transfers to Oklahoma: Ex-UCF star QB reneges on UCLA commitment, will join Sooners instead entered portal in November 2021 and was transferring to UCLA before changing mind to go to OU and work with his former OC.
There's no need for a link to his transfer, we just watched him play a whole ass football season with OU. Well, most of us did, anyway
You are assuming the coaches would have used him there. He went from starter to 3rd string and not getting any playing time. It's obvious the coaches didn't see a role for TW moving forward. Good luck to him.
I have no problem with anyone who enters the portal for another opportunity. But leaving the team 8 weeks into the season is a different story. He would have lots of playing opportunity if he would have stayed with how thin we were at the position.
You make that assumption. The coaches see it otherwise. He had a total of 4 receptions in 3 games(1/USF, 2/TN, 1/EW) in 2022. The coaches had no use for him, it was obvious. The coaches left him on the bench. He already had his degree. He gave the university 4 years, no reason to stay. It wasn't 8 weeks. TW entered the portal on 11/14 after the SC game with 2 games left in the regular session.
Ok, 10 weeks. Which makes it even more bizarre. We were throwing to Bowman, Pouncey and Odom the last couple of games. Yes, I think it was safe assume TW would have had some opportunity if he had stayed.
You make my point. They were using other players while leaving TW on the bench. Didn't even get in the game for LSU, UGA and TX AM 3 weeks in a row. On senior day (SC) was his last field appearance. Honestly I think the split was mutual and the coaches made little effort to get him to remain for the season.
We’ve beat this horse before, but opportunity to play or not, I agree he could (should) have stuck it out with his team for the final two games of the regular season
2 games where we were woefully short at WR, arguably lost both games due lack of bodies at WR. Lots of guys played very few snaps, but waited till end of season to leave.....which is always the way to handle things
Well said. It’s been well documented that he didn’t receive much of an opportunity this year. Barely played us a better way to put it.
You are saying exactly what I said… Facts!! Some will not see what the facts are. I posted exact snaps at one point and that he only saw the field in like 30% of games.
10 weeks. Not like Whit is a rouge I mean rogue guy in doing this. Didn’t Braun Leave after 4-5 games? I’ll bet 1 of 2 and maybe both are starters next year with pretty solid programs.
Lot of kids get limited snaps. Most don't don't quit during the season. It's really as simple as that. Of course you already know that
He didn’t quit on his team. His coaches quit on him by keeping Pearsall on the field and Trent on the bench. That cost us Trent, Creed and probably their younger brother who is rumored to be the best of the three.
