Conservation easements may be the quickest, cleanest kill in a federal tax fraud case against DT. It seems that the tax rights granted to people dedicating large tracts to conservation and then failing to adhere to the terms required to secure said tax breaks is a fat, ripe fruit waiting to be plucked by the IRS as DT isn't the only rich person to play this game. I hope the light shone here will spread to others that are doing the same thing. DT claimed the CE tax benefits at multiple projects while ignoring the restrictions imposed when self-valuing those same properties as basis for collateral. Old, but relevant, now that the taxes are about to be released that will reflect the tax claims for the CE's while his financials used for loans consistently value the properties as if the CE restrictions did not exist. In California, the area put under conservation could not be developed due to structural geological conditions. If you can't develop it, how does putting it under a CE add value? I think Trump may be afraid to leave Florida because it would be easier to arrest him nearly anywhere else. DeSantis may have told him that he would interfere with any attempts to do so at MAL.
If it came to something like that, wouldn’t they issue an arrest warrant anyway? So, Trump would theoretically become a fugitive and those “shielding” from arrest would be committing their own crimes. I don’t think even our esteemed guv would go that route, esp not as he probably wants Trump out of his way.
