Nothing...that's what the offense looked like against Oregon State...or are you going to say that Torrence and Shorter were the difference makers

The lack of an offensive line and running game was the first strike. Not having a qb that could run for his life was yeT another problem. Shorter could not have helped that situation.

I totally agree. It shows how much AR brought to the table, that same group averaged over 30 points a game with him at qb. And before anyone says "but Torrence", Torrence didn't play against LSU and we scored 35. AR threw for 185 yards and 1 td, and ran for 109 yards and 1 td.

Portal moves, or lack thereof, have been really weird. Not addressing the offense outside of a QB that left many Gator fans disappointed is perplexing.

I hate that we rolled out the red carpet for this kid knowing he was already bought and paid for....

A running qb can hide a lot of bad things. Just his threat to run helped our rb’s . He just couldn’t move the chains consistently without running because he wasn’t a complete qb. He was fairly easy to defend and there were many things to worry about. You knew what the options were.

So are you saying our RB's suddenly are no good without AR in the backfield? What did they amount to against OSU?

I really wish people would stop trying to compare this guy and that guy to Percy Harvin. It’s laughable in every case. Just stop

many of Pell’s tickytac 107 violations were if this nature. Hamburgers, t shirts, most egregious was a $100 signing bonus.

Some of us may not live long enough to see another Harvin. His strength, acceleration and agility … unreal. Even in the pros , when “healthy” he was on a different level.

His upper body strength completely separates him from Demps, Rainey, Toney, and pretty much every other fast shifty guy people like to compare to Percy. Not even close

AR is more potential than talent, Dean is more of a liability than an asset, Torrence can’t tackle, OL lost their reps. Not a lot of talent.

We're actually agreeing on a lot of points. I just feel that the bowl game showed that there really weren't enough quality pieces around him to see if he was or wasn't a more complete player. We may have a better idea a year from now.
BTW take all this back and forth as friendly, I've enjoyed your posts and respect your opinions.

If you're being serious...in the bowl game we rushed 33 times for 39 yards.

AR like Tebow was a weapon defenses had to account for which opened running and passing lanes. An immobile QB, much like our immobile TEs, don’t need to be defended in the same way. Have no idea if Mertz can run a RPO offense for Billy, but the accuracy stats others have posted suggest we should worry next year, particularly with only 1 starter back on the OL. If Ricky comes back there is one known passing weapon for a QB to rely on and hopefully a freshman can step up
