I understand the NFL comparison, I just don't want college football to be like the NFL. I like the idea of every game, your season hangs in the balance. If college football just wants to be NFL-lite, more and more people are going to go for the product with the better football. College still has some things going for it, the atmosphere and tradition are special and the NFL has nothing to replicate it. But college football needs to stop trying to be like the NFL.
You would have to have championship games for all conferences. You are right. And only those conference championship games where the two contestants are in the top 12 at the time the playoffs would commence would count as playoff games. Why should two top 12 teams have to play in a conference championship and then one becomes part of the 12 teams that play in the playoffs? That is not fair.

16 anyone? Why College Football Playoff expansion could push out to 16 teams sooner than you may think
Who would be left after round one. Which team that wasn’t in it had the best chance to be in round two.
I think the byes are important for a couple reasons and hope they stick with 12 for a few years to see how that plays out before entertaining 16 teams. 1 - I want the regular season to keep its importance. With 16 teams, there's no real difference between being #3 and #6, you're both playing a team outside the top 10 in the first round and then play each other on a neutral field in the quarters. Do they really want to turn this into college basketball where every tunes in for the tourney but tunes out the regular season? 2 - Asking college kids to play 4 playoff games is a LOT. Asking fans to attend 4 playoff games, three at neutral sites, is a LOT. If we go to 16 teams and ensure each finalist will be playing their 4th playoff game, you're gonna have some injury depleted squads.
Only the bye teams get a game less. It’s an advantage that 3-4 probably don’t deserve anymore than 5-6. 1 playing 16 seems far enough to me, that enough advantage but 12 is fine too, I just don’t like byes. Line em up and play.
This all day long. And they are smart for integrating the bowls into the playoffs. But I just found out that they will try and get some of the early games of the 12 team playoffs on campuses. That I just saw Sankey mention of SEC Nation.
Yepper, squeaking in at 12 while sitting players will get you your ass handed to you game one. That extra loss may have taken your 6 seed that looked a lot more winnable.
We're miles away right now though. Finally ran out of Mc's recruits that Mullen was successful with. Maybe by 24, we'll be close, though. I think that's a real possibility.
Disagree. Maybe a few years away in winning a championship, but not miles away from sniffing the playoffs. We could easily be next year’s Tennessee.
