I'm feeling like maybe for a school that doesn't have natties in the last few years to sell recruits on championships, we are handling this NIL thing the right way. I guess we will find out in 24.
Does CBN survive if we tank to say 4 - 8 next season? Right now I see 4 - 8 or 8 - 4 as very possible for 23.
Wondering if they aren't "renewing" the NIL deals with kids they don't think are cutting it. Although some of their promising players are transferring, too.
Are you implying there is a scenario (outside of insane off field scandal which won’t happen) where CBN gets canned next year?
I have to think their NIL was front loaded, and they don't have a way to pay enough to keep all of those top guys. "Got bag. Now I'm walking." But regardless of how many snaps they gave to freshmen, there can't be that many that aren't cutting it. There's a problem there. They certainly can't sell championships to recruits.
Oh Yes, - losing season, 0-SEC kind of thing, ugly play. I could see it happen, but personally speaking I'm 100% on board with CBN (for now).
Been watching Florida since 1966... Spurrier's last year. Coach Napier is the absolute best thing that has happen to Gator Football since Steve Spurrier.
Yes..he'll get three years minimum. I don't think we've descended to Auburn levels of ethical conduct yet. However, the noise in the system will be deafening.
From where we have been, the depth of competition in the SEC, and the emergence of NIL, I would be OK with 5 years just to get a year or 2 with Lagway under his belt so we can see what he can do with all of his players with good depth, barring multiple years of unacceptable W-L records. Considering how hard the SEC is now to win without advantages we don't have, long-term I would be OK with CBN being a Mack Brown type coach that has deep relationships in the state, recruits hard, can bring in reasonably good assistants, and be in the conversation for a conference championship regularly so that once every ten years we might see a national championship with a lights out QB.
Now THIS is a kid we need to go after in the portal. Right in our back yard DeMario Tolan, Dr. Phillips, Linebacker
