Seriously won it for them when they KO’d Harrison for the game. And you take away targeting but how can that not still be unnecessary roughness? Nfl would have called it that all day long. Would have given Ohio State first and goal and they could have scored the touchdown to put the game away. Then overturn call with their tight end giving them a first down in addition to a bunch of other calls going their way. They are a bunch of cheats who are coaches to cheap shot defenseless star players (think Pitts a few years ago) who are killing them in games. Now they are going to win another cheap natty they don’t deserve. Funny that without them benefiting from receivers who were eating their secondary alive either going down (2 ACL’s to Bama receivers last season on the way to their back door title) and Harrison cheap shot this year, they have zero titles. Last years title wasn’t their fault because they didn’t cause the ACL’s but they certainly stole this one with dirty play from their ineffective secondary. They were outplayed by Ohio State and deserved to lose the game. Disgusting that we have to watch this garbage.
Sadly they are running a plug and play program and the portal will keep them from having a down year for a while. Winning titles always takes some luck and unfortunately they have caught every break possible the last couple of years. Everything has broken their way. Fsu had pretty good fortune this year as well. Someday our turn will happen but it sure has been a long time since we experienced some good fortune of our own.
It does give the appearance that there is too much money and prestige at stake to allow teenage kids to spoil the goods.
The TO was close and I get what the ref was saying. It doesn't matter when the whistle is blown, it matters if the ball was snapped when the ref hears the request. I think this should be changed similar to the play clock hitting zero and the back judge looks to see if the ball is snapped. If the ball is moving, no foul. If you can't blow the whistle before the ball is snapped, it should be tough luck, get it in quicker next time. OSU should have lined up and gone for it anyway. The first down from ugas TE was the most bogus crap I have ever seen. I don't think the extended line to gain applies as it would not apply for a TD. The ball has to hit the pylon or pass inside for a TD to count. You don't get the extended line to gain so I don't know why they gave it to uga. The hit on Harrison would have resulted in a flag and a fine in the NFL and was a hit to a defenseless player. 15 yard personal foul and automatic first down. 2 very bad calls and 1 questionable call is how I see it.
Not the one I saw. Td pass and clean hit I think is when he went out. There may have been another that was targeting.
I didn’t think it was cheap or dirty hit. Just a hard hit. That happens in football. The TO was the right call and happens that way all the time. The out of bounds play… bogus to me. But I’m not 100 percent in the rules there so… And bad calls went both ways. Defensive offsides when the RB false starts. Dline even pointed it out..
I haven’t seen a Swindle like Saturday night since, well the Swindle In the Swamp. ESPN had the refs hand that game to UGA. Thank you to @twodaparty for starting the thread. I thought about starting it on Sunday but I figured too many people would lift their heads out of Kirby’s lap, wipe off and tell me how wrong I was.
i would agree that Bama gets more than their share of calls, but in 50 years of watching SEC football I have not seen the refs intervene and overrule two legit calls made on the field with little to no evidence to do so. I can’t see how any of the live replays justified changing either of this calls
The problem, to me, with the TE first down call is that I didn't see enough "indisputable" evidence to overturn the call. Had they called first down on the field, I don't think you could've reversed that either. It should've been, The Ruling on the Field Stands.
Was it a coincidence they went after Pitts in the exact same way and knocked him out of the game? Seems like an obvious pattern to me.
