Does anyone remember in the spring the coaches praising Tarquin and saying what a model player and leader he was? I wonder what happened.
Fuchs is finally Out!!! Thank goodness. trash Stricklin needs to go too. Him still being here after the mess he allowed to happen with the Women's BB coach is just pathetic.
It just seems to come down to luck. Smart didn’t seem to have any better credentials than Muschamp and Heupel was from friggin’ UCF. Neither of them were anywhere near sure things but they just worked out. It sucks it happened for them and not us but nothing about those hires screamed strokes of genius at the time.
I’d consider this season for season as definitely going places. They’ll finish top 6-7 which is very impressive and ended with a blowout of Clemson in which they were missing QB snd too 2-3 receivers. First year saw major advancements that led to this.
They're on an upward trajectory. Still, they have to back this up with recruiting success. If they struggle to do better than 20th ranked classes, they won't catch Georgia and possibly lose ground to us. If we go back to Mullen's first two years, he didn't take advantage of the success. It can go south on you in a hurry if you're not careful.
Don’t forget. The Mac & Mullen trajectory looked really good in year 2 as well. The question we should be asking …is there a plan in place to help ensure long term success? Because I don’t think either of those coaches did. I think they lived in the moment, today, without any regard to long term success. Nape, at least, had a plan. And a very detailed one.
Interesting article but I’m not sure it’s a good idea to talk about how Napier went 10-2 his second year at Louisiana. I think it’s folly to expect this from this team. 'It takes the time it takes to do it right': Stricklin reiterates confidence in Napier approach
Even in our heyday we didn’t have near the talent that UGA is putting on the field right now. The only place I would give us the edge over current UGA is at quarterback and WR. All other positions I would give UGA the advantage.
