My concern isn't so much about the qb as much as it is about the OL. We got dominated in the bowl game and that was with 4 starters. Next year we will have only 1 starter I believe and you can expect D's will go all out stopping our running game and will pressure our qb on 3rd and long. We have 2 OL coaches and they will most definitely have their work cut out for them.
I can’t imagine he would hang around that long, but it’s possible. Based on the rules, he should qualify for a medical waiver.
Why not Max Brown, you don't complete 70% of your passes (as Brown did as a starter during both his Junior and Senior in hs), or rush for nearly 1000 yards as a Junior and then rushed over 1300 yards his Senior year, throw for 65 TDs with only 10 INTs cumulatively both years by accident? he arrived late this past season, making it a forgone conclusion this season would be a RS year. Would you care to link a current article, indicating Brown a year into his time being on campus, won't be seriously considered as a possible starter heading into spring practice?
I really expected to see Andre Deboses name in this article. Give that kid the Andre Debose never ending career trophy.
That would be my best guess. He may stick it out one more season and compete with the PWO for #3, if Miller leaves. If Miller stays, then I would bet that Brown leaves after the spring.
IMO, Brown has very nice arm talent and above average mobility. I really hope we find a way to work him in for some playing time in the Spring, otherwise he'll probably look elsewhere.
As more gets revealed about the "can't miss QB" ahead of Mertz in the portal, it is understandable why we went after Mertz: non-transferable credits, heart condition, big NIL deals to stay, high interception rates in QB friendly systems. After those nobody stands out over him as somebody we needed to get as a one year experienced transfer QB.
But but but it's sooooo much easier to blame our staff for missing on guys because we're too cheap/dumb/lazy/bad to get every good player who enters the portal. Who cares about facts or context or reasonable logic when you can bitch and moan and yell about the sky falling The super emotional knee jerk reactions from some folks on here when they don't get what they want is pathetic.
So much more fun to pitch a temper tantrum and act like we know what’s going on behind the scenes though.
Yeah, even Bama who has one of the best classes of all time missed on David Hicks, Peter Woods, M'pemba, and Kelby Collins, just to name a few defensive line guys they wanted badly. Nor did they get the top quarterback or the top running back. We just need to have some perspective on our recruits. Our recruits are showing out at the UA all star game.
