We have recruited, winning and losing, some recruits that had some trait or traits that were appealing, but they never turned into good receivers. It seems like a position we were never in the running for the right guys.
I saw him catch a TD early. Not sure what else he did during the year. The talks of him sulking on the sidelines in HS was a red flag.
The Apopka game his senior year, expected it to be a primo match of Gibson vs Nikkai Martinez. Nikkai tore his knee up that Wednesday in practice, thought Gibson would run wild. Did nothing, pouted a lot, digged some routes. Soured me for good
I know nothing about their schemes but are they taking higher ranked players for fit or for their ranking?
Yeah but fit in reference to positions of need or people that fit their schemes? Cuz it seems like they are just taking the top ranked at the positions they want. And I’m supposed to believe all these players just happen to fit exactly into their scheme?
They neeed an infusion of talent more than us ,so Norvel needs to make it fit or get the best he can out of the player in a not ideal situation.
Fit and scheme. FSU needed both depth and quality at guard, and got it. They needed a shutdown corner, and got it. They needed top line DTs, after one starter graduated, and Lovett being hurt and thought to go to the draft. They got the kid from UM on a hardship and Fiske who is one of the top guys available, and Lovett decided to stay. They probably need a solid DE for depth whether Verse declares or not, and an above average to good linebacker. Another above average safety would help as well, since Robinson declared.
Their strategy could be to use what little NIL money they have on players that have actually succeeded playing college FB instead of hs recruits that may not pan out. Pretty smart strategy if you ask me.
