As they should be. It will be interesting to watch when they start realizing how deep their uncle Sam likes to get in your pocket.

 

On3’s figures that shaped NIL in 2022

 

That article shows NIL is not going anywhere. We concentrate on football but the article proves NIL crosses all sports.

Do not expect the NCAA to handicap it in any meaningful way. If anything it's on the tampering side I expect them to tighten down on.

 

Today I did some research on the NIL. I wanted to see what school and players were involved with NIL.
I found a link (see below) that gave me a nation wide look for NIL and college football players. This link provides the top 100 NIL players/deals. To my surprise the Gators on had on player in this ranking. Please note that I sad "had". That player was the former Gator QB Anthony Richardson.
Not surprisingly, I found a bunch of SEC (and future SEC) schools with multiple players (UGA and Bama for example).

I also found a link to the Gator Collective. Believe it or not, a lot of Gator football players have NIL contracts. What surprised me is that a majority of the NIL deals were for less than $100,000. After seeing this data, I am no longer questioning why some of the Gators have left the team via the portal and why recently had a drop in star rated players (except for the recent signee class).

Overall it appears that the NIL has created an Nuclear style arms race in getting and keeping talented players. I can see how/why some schools have small footprint in NIL's and other schools have a big footprint.

 

I’m leaning that way too. Except i started going to games in 1980. I cant give money for pay to play. I love the university but hate the direction college football has been going for years. The term “student-athlete” is becoming a ruse

 

It's going to become the EPL. 6 Viable teams that tower above the rest. 2-3 of those that will dominate the others in the Big 6. And couple that will make inroads once in a while. The rest will celebrate middle of the pack finishes and just staying in the top league.

That said, just pass go and do it. Fully professionalize the whole thing down to the Pop Warner level. Youth academies and the full boat. Might help us hang on to the in-state talent.

 

Merely outlaw NIL and hold agents accountable for ruining college football. If players aren't playing for love of the game screw them. We'd all be playing recreational football if our bodies could take it. Young guys have been totally corrupted by agents, alumni and greed.

 

Uhhh...the NCAA tried that and the Supreme Court smacked them in the face for it. They lost 9-0.

The problem is that what we are witnessing is the furthest thing from NIL. If the NCAA wouldn't have been stupid and allowed true NIL that had nothing to do with their sport for athletes , the SC probably would have never gotten involved.
