I was expecting a team slightly better than last year, at least based on the roster assembled by Golden combined with the returning players. Nothing crazy given it usually takes time for new guys to gel even with an established coach. I basically expected another bubble team but wanted us on the right side of that bubble. Obviously the (team) shooting issues persist and that puts a ceiling on things. But I think we are more talented than 7-6 at least.

    Me, too.

We had a game in intramurals where he had to go to the White House as part of an NCAA championship team as a coach and he said to us "You guys can win this without me."

    And we did.

Hey AKA, your “typing while listening” notes seem shorter than with White. Does Golden have a shorter postgame show?

I played pick up and intramural basketball with him for years. A lot of the pick up games where there were profs, mostly engineering, that had played a little ball.

True story about a noon time pick up game with him.

It was about the time that we were packing it in to get back to work when Dwayne showed up with five of the Gator receivers that he was coaching and wanted a game. Most of us said that we needed to go back to work but he convinced four of us old white guys to stay, Dwayne then said to his football receivers "I will play with them" and they all laughed. He then said "You will be surprised."

    We kicked their asses.

One of my best basketball memories ever.

    Yes.
Lee typically only asks three questions, whereas Mick used to ask a few more. That, and Todd is pretty direct in his answers.

Felder was okay. The first minute he got in the game, however, he had position to grab an easy rebound. Instead, he reached for it without much effort, and the Auburn dude just blew right past him and grabbed it. Felder got sent right back to the bench for the lackadaisical play. When he got back in the game, he played better.
Weep not for the Felder, for he must earn his minutes.

Are there transition years in basketball?

Meanwhile, over at Georgia, White is 10-3. I guess his transition year has been tough, too.

How many top 20 teams has Georgia played under White?

Agree on Richard but shot, for first time, looked really off. Maybe Reeves as the guy to kick it out to? Shocked we played so well with Richard nonexistent scoring wise.

Great post. Without shooters to change defensive spacing/positioning CC has it tough. If I’m opposing coach I keep running two/doubling CC until we prove we can hit outside shots.

I think Fudge needs another year but he’s projected second round right now. Could be a first rounder with another year but you know how that sometimes goes.

We continue to say the same thing about CC. Passing alone worth 4/5 assists a game IF he catches it near the hoop.

Normally I’d say we need to hustle more or box out better. Truth is, Auburn tossed some gigantic bricks that bounced off rim past 15’. A lot of them. Sometimes the ball doesn’t bounce our way. If a couple more did then we win

I am tired of hearing the excuse that it takes time to adjust to a new coach or system. The other 4 first time Sec coaches seem to have adjusted well. Maybe Golden is fake gold. But it is early yet. He may turn it around.
