Don’t know why we keep rehashing the McCall thing. It’s a non issue. He was not coming here, due to reasons already explained. For better or worse, Mertz is a Gator now. Time to move forward and root for who we have.

I disagree that Franks was hard to beat when he was on. he was never on. He was more inconsistent than Richardson. Franks was afraid to throw the ball beyond the line of scrimmage

I think we did reasonably well but the honestly I was hoping we would do better. Very disappointing to struggle on the top players in Florida. This class can be good but we are going to need an extremely high hit rate. There is still something missing in recruiting. I’m not sure what it is. There is no reason we should be second fiddle to Georgia and Alabama.

We didn't upgrade our QB room from this year to next year. 2024, I think we take a big step forward, but not next year.

It's going to take awhile to beat Bama and Georgia for 5*. It's also going to take a lot of money and the willingness to spend it in order to pry them away.

At this point, it appears that we are in most cases unwilling to buy players. Until that changes, we will be a lot worse than second fiddle to those guys.

 

Big question is: did he just mis-read options avoiding running or just intentionally not run and handed off. If it wasn't intentional, he was very bad at plays that maximized his skillset.

 

yea man. Im not even thinking of beating those two in recruiting yet, we need to start winning what would appear to be winnable battles against kids who like UF but still end up picking USCe (Pup Howard), Michigan State (Jordan Hall), UCF (John Walker), FSU (Lucas Simmons) before we think we can consistently go head to head with the big dogs. Not saying we shouldn’t shoot our shot, but you get my drift

 

The other school choices don't bother me, but anyone picking UCF over Florida is a big slap in the face.

I don’t really understand this whole recruiting thing. Yes, you do have to win games at some point which Florida has in recent memory. I grew up rooting for UF because of the success in the late 90’s. I understand teenagers can be easily swayed. Money aside, if someone wants to come to UF they’re going to come no matter what. Take for instances Gervon Dexter. He said he knew Mullen was fake but he was all Gator. He could’ve easily went to Georgia. All these kids want to get to the league and coming to UF did not stop him from getting to where he wanted to go business decision aside.
