That makes it even worse. Either it was a poorly designed play. Or it was poorly designed execution of another play. Either way, we are now 7-6 and 0-1.
Better game overall but need to figure out how to win. At least imo this is the first game i felt they could build off of. Thought this definitely was a tournament team this year, but chances at this point seem slim to none barring a big turnaround. Still not sure why Felder doesn't get more PT. Would like to see more of a rotation between him and Fudge. Think it's time to scrap the Lofton and Bonham lineup. Imo, Lofton just isn't a 2 and that's the only way it would work. Really thought we'd see more from Lofton as pg. Need more than 2 assists from him.
What else is new? We are one of the worse 3-point shooting teams in the league. At some point, you limit the 3s and take a higher percentage 2s. Especially when you see yourself losing by 3 points.
As I stated earlier..had CC not turned it over at the end and made thev2..we win...% of 3s wouldn't matter..many of the missed 3s..were good looks..they weren't falling
If you don't take wide open threes then the defense against your two point shots gets lots more intense. We have guys that can hit threes but are a bit streaky. Tonight they were all on losing streaks.
I think we have to look at underperformers. Fudge is not an under performer, and should only be taken out when he needs to get rest. The same is the case for Castleton, Lofton, and Reeves. Right now for whatever reason, Richard has become a liability to the team. His minutes should go down not Fudge's.
Per his post game comments, it seemed the play was run as designed. Lee asked specifically about Colin getting the ball away from the hoop, and coach simply said we wanted it in his hands to “make a play”.
Richard is 4-21 in his last 3 or 4 games. It is time for a change in strategy. Jones is 2-13 in his last 4 games. It is time for the analytics to kick in. They are a combined 6-34 in the last 4 games. We will stay at the bottom of the SEC if this continues.
When it comes from shooting threes some guys are consistent and some are streaky. Steve Kerr in the NBA and Lee Humphrey at UF were consistently good. Our guys are not like that. Our guys when they are "on" are amazing. If only one of the guys we have had "gone off" we would have won easily but that didn't happen. Still taking Auburn in their Barnhouse to the limit when we didn't have our A game is not terrible. But in the words of an Auburn grad it is "turrible".
