Transfer Portal Thread (Other Schools)

I get that, but seems so far nearly no one fits our system.

I remember schools were interested in him late and it was weird he went to OU and i'm not shocked he entered the portal.

 

I agree with you but to me, Boone, Sapp, Princely aren’t ideal size wise for SSDE. I would want them to be around the 280ish mark imo. Another year in the system could get Boone and Sapp close to that if they stick it out and don’t transfer out. Definitely agree with DT though. That’s what im concerned about.

 

im not sure if it was someone being facetious or an actual rumor but saw he is also leaning fsu. If so that would be 3 transfer DL. Imagine it would be hard to get 3 since only 2 can start.

 

Because it just results in bad class balance. They’re gonna have mass attrition when people graduate, due to recruiting players via the portal without a 4 year eligibility. Which in turn, means they need to hit the portal even harder as that happens. The only way to do it successfully is to rely on it TO GET YOU RESULTS that in turn allow you to recruit better

 

How is Norvell doing this?

 

kept at it with the portal since he got there now he has cache to back up his pitch to portal kids after the regular season they had. Their best players this past season were portal players so that's an easy sell.

This is true. I still prefer to cherry pick from the portal and can easily see what FSU is doing in the portal as desperate, not cherry picking.

 

Spent little resources on HS kids/recruiting, overspend on portal. Supposedly they have limited $$ so this may be their best or only route. ND reports they grossly overpaid on Fiske the DL

 

The portal machine has come to screeching halt. I guess everyone is waiting to see what scuffed diamonds shake out of the upper tier teams post-season.

 

Didn't you just answer your own question? If you are not the next Bama/GA who can recruit anybody out of high school and supplement from the portal for the high schoolers, who are you? We aren't aiming to be the next South Carolina or FSU or Oregon St.

 

Most will argue that O'Cyrus and Montrell aren't real portals since CBN brought them with him. And Ricky was needed at the weakest position talent wise on the whole team. Most any wr2 or wr3 from any other P5 team could come in and made a difference as a receiver here. The need for them was all about emergency because of Mullen's weakness at high school recruiting, not a plan for success by CBN.
