Yea I get being “selective” but there are really good players going to what most consider worse programs. Card to Purdue? Etc
Our luck we’d be turned in for tampering and we’d be made an example of. This is the same NCAA that came after one of our players over a bake sale. I wouldn’t risk it especially when there is no love in the SEC for us
He’s gone through 3 different OCs in 3 years from what I understand. Hard to fault a guy for his regressions.
UW changed Mertz’s quarterback coach three times during his career. Mertz had a different voice leading his meetings and drills each season as a starter. Mertz had Jon Budmayr coaching his room with Joe Rudolph as the offensive coordinator in 2020, then Chryst as his position coach and OC last season. Bobby Engram took over as coordinator and quarterbacks coach this offseason. Graduate assistant Keller Chryst, a former Stanford quarterback and Paul’s nephew, was also an integral voice in the QB room this season, and Mertz thanked him in a social-media post announcing his transfer. “Zero chance at consistent success with that,” ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky said about Mertz’s revolving door of coaches. “It’s ridiculous. You just can’t play well in that world.” How Wisconsin football and former QB Graham Mertz failed each other
2 weeks ago we had all these QBs lined up to start for us next year...Hartman, McCall, leary, Platt, etc.,. And we got Mertzed? Fail by the staff, collective, NIL, or whatever but UF had a premiere opening that nobody wanted.
Just because you or I had a want list doesn't mean it matched how the staff viewed kids.....I'm pretty sure they don't feel Mertz is a fail
no telling if Hartman had any interest in UF either. People got to remember that getting a kid is a TWO WAY street. Just because we want someone, doesnt mean they’re coming another thing with NIL too; Hartman could of been asking for a kings ransom and if we all agree that UF not winning big next, why blow a bag on him for a one year rental when even if he came here and plays at a Heisman level, we still a 9 win max team with him
Pretty sure a very high priority with these quarterbacks is they’re looking to transfer for their final season to play for a championship contender and put up big numbers not be a rebuild quarterback. Florida in 2023 is still a rebuild. Unfortunately Ohio State (most likely), Bama and Georgia will have an open QB battle and they have been/are competing for championships.
was about to edit my post and say something similar to this post. Hartman wants to win a natty next year; why come to UF? Doesn’t make an ounce of sense
And maybe he’s played on a shit offense. If he had to play on that office we threw out there for the ball game I bet he would be even worse. Give the guy some support and maybe he turns out to be fairly decent. Or maybe he looks at defensive backs and throws the ball on their chest
Bama is damn sure a prime spot for a quarterback to go win natty next year. My Bama buddies don’t believe in Milroe, say he’s a slow AR
right. I know Ty Simpson may be in line to be the starter for them but if they can get Hartman…why not?
