i agree. I am always curious as to who people wanted hired when disagreeing w the ultimate choice. And I mean that sincerely…. it’s interesting to hear those opinions. When we hired White, he was my choice… along with Mack. That doesn’t look so good in retrospect. This time around….Golden was not on my list when the hire was made, but as I learned about him… I didn’t have many gripes. As for the tenured coaches I liked…. Matta and Jans.
I liked the Mike White hire. I liked the guy. I liked giving him multiple seasons. And he was never bad, just not good enough. He seemed to have reached his ceiling, which was never going to satisfy a fan base, including myself, spoiled by Billy Donovan. However, I wish him complete failure at Georgia, because, well, Georgia. Coach Golden deserves a chance to build the program his way. It disappoints me to see Gator fans calling for his head just 12 games into his first season. But that's the nature of entitlement, I guess.
I hit "agree," but let me qualify that. As a collegian, Barry was better than Rosario and slightly better than Hudson. He was better than Fudge currently is. But I expect Fudge to pass Barry before March. Dude has NBA potential.
Well-said. When I see comments like that, the poster might was well be telling me "You can go ahead and click Ignore."
Right? Can't we for once let a season play out and see where we stand? I see gradual improvement in our team and expect to see more over the next month.
I don't want to derail this great thread but just to be clear . . . that won't be happening any more.
Yep, I wish him success in his personal life. I also wish Georgia to never win another game, match, bout, exhibition, in any sport, pastime, or hobby. Because, Georgia.
Barry's one year at Florida averaged 11.4, l8 in assists, 2.8 in rebounds, 33.8% from 3, 43% overall, and 21.5 minutes. Hudson two year average 12, 1, 3.5, 34% (3), 40%, and 25 minutes a game. Pretty much a push. However, if you look at Hudson's best year and compare it to Barry's sole year, there is no comparison. Hudson won more games for us and carried us more than Barry ever did. Hudson's first year was 15.5, 1, 4, 40%(3), 45.5% and 27. How you can conclude that Barry was a better player than Hudson is beyond me. Rosario's best year was 12.5, 2, 2.6, 37%, 45%, and 30 minutes per game. Fudge is in his first season with Florida, and is averaging 23 minutes a game. He is shooting 46% and 37% from 3, 4 rebounds a game did not even get significant minutes in many of the games. He has had 5 games with double figures. Obviously, you are entitled to your opinion, but I don't think the numbers lie. All three of those transfers were or are more valuable to our team in my opinion.
Hudson two year average 12, 1, 3.5, 34% (3), 40%, and[/QUOTE] You are right, Smith came to a VERY talented team and turned out to be one of our best transfers. I think you have to look at the number of games we would have lost without Hudson's or Rosario's contributions. There were several. I don't see Barry having that same impact or Smith for that reason.
Look at his numbers for one year with Hudson's best year and Rosario's. He does not measure up. I am not saying he was not a positive addition to our program, I just don't think he was as valuable as Hudson and Rosario.
Very talented I should have included his name, although his value was always under-appreciated because we had so much more talent then.
